My heart hurts for Wyatt. I’ve had anxiety since I was in second grade. As a child it’s so hard to explain what you’re feeling when your emotions and struggles are so big. I hope you find what works for him. Nothing wrong with medication and nothing wrong with counseling or more “natural” things. The only thing that matters is doing what’s best. I know you know this. Good luck!

Thank Wyatt for allowing you to share his story. As parents, it’s our job to make sure our kids get what they need to succeed…and success is different for everyone. Taking all the time and trying all the things to figure out what would help Wyatt to succeed is the best thing you could have done. I hope this medication is the one that sticks. And you can see how Wyatt is happy and thriving. I hope this vlog helps others on their own journey🥰

I was almost 30 years old when I received my ADHD and Autism spectrum diagnoses. And that was only AFTER my son was diagnosed with ADHD and on the autism spectrum and my daughter was diagnosed with ADHD. 2021 was a year of learning about myself and my children. I wish I had received even an ounce of your parenting when I was a child. It would have helped so much. I am working to parent my children with much more respect, and understanding. I can say that starting medication at almost 30 has completely changed my life. Both of my children have started medication as well and the difference in their education has been so drastic. I’m so thankful for a world where children get diagnosed and have access to the help and medication they need.

I hate that you have to explain/defend yourself when it comes to Wyatt. Good for you for doing what’s best for your son, whatever that looks like. These meds exist for a reason. Fingers crossed you find something that works for him soon! Also unrelated, that hair color looks gorgeous on you! 😆

Oh. My. Gosh. When you mentioned that Wyatt peels paint off the wall, I couldn't believe it. I couldn't agree more on meds not being the easy route. We've tried all the same things you listed too. It feels validating to hear someone else with very similar challenges. My son is 13, we live in Ohio and we've been going through this since he was about 3. I hope you have a better school administration and teachers because that's been the biggest roadblock for us. Good luck to your family and especially Wyatt. ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing your story with Wyatt and especially talking about using the crisis line. Around this time last year my depression was coming to an all time low and eventually I got started on medication and it changed my life. It’s so important for everyone to understand that no matter what their specific mental health struggles are, they are not alone, there are resources out there, and things can get better.

I’ve never dealt with ADD or ADHD. Not in any real way but that feeling of almost relief that comes when something helps your child (my brother and I are 12yrs apart so I’ve basically helped raise him). That’s something I can relate to. This is on a much smaller scale. We realized he needed glasses in high school but he refused to wear them. Didn’t like them at all but we didn’t realize how much he actually needed them. We just didn’t truly know. Anyhoo, the decision was finally made to allow him to try contacts. We took him to the appt, they came in, he put them on and we walked out of the office. He literally started talking to us about all of the things he could see. He could finally see the world without it being blurry. We watched him walk home bc he wanted to and as he walked away mom and I started crying. Mom told me days later that he was pointing out signs he could read from the car figuring out that the signs had had words on them the entire time. 😭 That was long…. Yup love this glad that Wyatt is being helped by the medication.

I’ve been there with you with my oldest and now it’s starting to look like it maybe a similar with one of my youngers… I know that has to feels so good to see him thriving on the medicine and be excited to know something is working! I’ll never understand keyboard warriors who think they know what’s best even when they only get snippets of someone’s life! Hope things continue getting better for him. When you were listing Wyatt’s symptoms I was like omg my almost 6 year old can not sit still to save her life and though I have raised one child with add this one is wayyy more adhd then my oldest was! I really need to try not to be as frustrated with her because it may not be in her control like some kiddos.

I’m so happy you’re taking care of Wyatt’s mental and physical health at this time. So many parents just ignore their childrens problems and maybe that’s why some of us 30 something year olds are so messed up. My anxiety has gotten worse as I’ve gotten older, but I’m trying to keep it together as best I can in this crazy world. Thank you for sharing your life with us, kind of makes me want to start vlogging as well.

Omg I relate to your challenges with Wyatt's adhd so much. I'm currently going through the same thing and it can be so frustrating and heartbreaking because you can see what a good/smart kid you have but it can be hard for others or even the kid themselves to see it. Your story gives me hope that I'll be able to find what works for my kiddo someday.

As a mom of a child who is now an adult with ADHD, you just have to do what works best for your child, your situation, and your family. We did a short trial of meds when he was younger and I was uncomfortable with the side effects, it just wasn't for us. Accomodations at school are extremely helpful. Now he is an adult in his 20s and has outgrown a lot of things, but still has some struggles, so we as a family have recently adopted a Whole Food Plant Based Diet, which has helped me with some health issues and im hoping it will make a difference for my son as well. There are so many benefits associated with a wfpb diet, I definitely recommend doing some research and decide if it could work for your family. Never stop fighting for your child! Stay strong Kelli you're an amazing mom!! Wyatt is such a lucky kid to have you and John as his parents, and he is going to have a bright future because of the love and time you give him.

I literally gained so much respect for you in this vlog! Not gonna lie I miss the old frequent vlog videos. I just shop for clothes at Walmart so I’m not into clothes videos. And seeing mostly sponsors and not many day in the life I was like ugh! But nope! To hear how much you pay for your son meds in one month is crazy!!!! And cost of therapy. I now see. We sometimes just get use to how a KZbinr is and we totally forget y’all are freaking real people. We don’t dictate anything in your life! We me like a certain day you upload or how many times you upload, and then you change it. O well! So my point is just keep doing you. I really enjoyed this vlog Edit; you should make merch with the tag line of “well, ima let y’all go” Iol I love when you say that

Glad for another video. I'm glad Wyatt is feeling much better. 🙂 I used to watch Once Upon A Time. It was a cute show. But I think I only made it through the first few seasons. If you enjoyed Once Upom A Time, you might also enjoy a show called Grimm. It has a similar theme about fairy tales but in the modern-ish setting.

Water and magnesium supplements to support stimulant meds. Also, crying after getting on a stimulant med is sometimes just letting him process emotions he hasn't really before. Late diagnosed, with kids later diagnosed, too.

I have a 16 year old son that has ADHD and he was on vyvanse for years and did really well with it. We had tried a few others before that but they would stop working after awhile, even after increasing the dosage. Vyvanse worked best for him for sure. He fought with his brother waaaay less and behaved at school much better. He also could sit and concentrate for hours so it really helped him with school. He chose to get off all medicine himself about a year ago and he has been fine. I hope the vyvanse continues to work! It’s tough with adhd, trust me

I live in Ontario boarder to the US. I use to work at a walk in clinic and we would have Americans come over to get Rx’s co-signed then filled at a pharmacy here bc of the high cost of medication over in the US. With the way the world is right now boarding crossing is not ideal but could be helpful later on if he is still on this medication. I did the math $9.50 per pill is crazy expensive but if it works that’s what matters and myself as a mother would do anything for my daughter just like you do for your kids. Love your vids! ❤️from 🇨🇦

As an adult with innatentive adhd and I have a child with adhd, nothing is an easy fix or helps perfectly. Meds are such a hard decision for a parent to make and in sorry you have had people question you. It is so hard to have constant nervous energy running through your body, it is distracting and frustrating. He is a lucky kid that he has parents who want to help. Fidget toys and watching out for your triggers and finding out what helps, he will be a lifelong journey of figuring himself out.

Hi Kelli, you mentioned that you managed to do your grocery list for the week for under 280$. So, I do my grocery shopping bi-weekly and I usually spend below 250$. Now, granted every family is different and you have 5 people in household, in mine it’s 4 people. But, we used to spend way more until we started buying our groceries from Walmart and we have been able to save so much since then.

Hi Kelli. I just heard you saying that you were happy that you spent less than 280$ per week of groceries. I shop at Walmart for my groceries and I spend less than 250$ bi-weekly. Now, of course, every family is different in terms of how much we consume, but I used to spend way more when I used to shop at my local grocery stores. Since you are trying to find ways to manage your budget, you should definitely try Walmart. The quality of the food there definitely went up and I don’t see any difference compared to other more expensive stores
