Managing Vertical Curve Label Display in Civil 3D using “Child Styles”

If the time comes that you need to create a derivative, or a “variation” of a Civil 3D label style, consider creating a child style. A child is simply a copy that is linked to the original style. Using a child, you can override as many of the original settings as you like, and if the original style is ever modified, those changes will propagate to the child style, so long as the modified settings haven’t been overridden.
In this session we’ll use the child style concept to edit vertical curve labels that appear in split profile views.

This simple task should've been done much easier and faster than creating two new styles, modify them and applying them just to remove two labels. It is to much for such simple task.thank you Jeff.

This was very informative, however the main take-away for me was being able to hold Ctrl+[label] to only select that label. You have no idea how frustrating it was for me to try and select only that one entity with no solution. Great content!!!

Clear, concise presentation. Well done. Thank you! Q: Is there a work flow for automating RT LT Profiles to appear 3" offet linework above/below centerline profile? As required by some jurisdictions. I saw the presentations for 2018 rt/lt eop parallel centerline with GB labels & modifying bands to call out RT & LT EOP. Seems like separate profiles may be required to accomplish the 3" offset RT EOP or C&G callouts.... Thx, KM
