Hey man I got a question for you I’d appreciate any insight on. So you’re obviously a big fan of the be100 and the ss100. Well I’ve been waiting for over a month now to get a be100 deluxe and an ss100 has popped up I’m coming from the be50 deluxe so I’m wondering how you’d compare the ss100 to the BE sound and if it’ll be better or worse or how different it will be. Just any kind of comparison insight you may have I’d greatly appreciate man.
@ZachWish3 жыл бұрын
Hey Joey! They're both killer amps, so it'd be hard to go wrong with either. Not really a matter of better or worse. The BE-100 Deluxe is definitely the flagship for a reason in that you can basically coax the sound of most of the other Friedman heads out of it with all of the switching options and gain structure options. I really like the Smallbox Plexi channel as the "clean" channel of the BE-100 Deluxe. It's great sounding for pristine cleans up through AC/DC-ish levels of gain. The SS-100 is much more stripped down when compared to the Deluxe, but can still get plenty of different tones. I personally gravitate towards simpler amps but I could be happy with either. The SS-100 has a great, pristine Fender-ish clean channel that stays super clean even at really high volumes. I tend to like a little hair on the clean tone though, so I generally hit it with a subtle OD. When comparing the gain channels of both amps, the SS-100 has a tiny bit more low mid content to it to my ears but just by a hair but you could dial them pretty close to one another. They both have that chewy, easy to play vibe. I spend 95% of my time on the gain channel (channel 2) and don't have any of the tone shaping switches engaged. Having owned most of that lineup now over the years, all of the amps have their subtle little differences, so I definitely understand that feeling of wanting to make sure you get the right now (that's why I owned them all at one point or another haha). I will say that for the Friedman lineup, I prefer the 100W heads. But when it really comes down to it, in a mix or live, you can get them all pretty close to one another. If you're really into tweaking tones and getting maximum versatility, the BE-100 Deluxe is the way to go. If you're just into a straight up great distorted tone, any of them will do the trick. Hope that's helpful!
@joeywilder97083 жыл бұрын
@@ZachWish thanks man! Yeah I waited it out and have the 100 deluxe now and man I’m glad I did! It kills the 50 deluxe in my opinion! And I also don’t really go for a pristine clean sound so I love the plexi channel as well. Man it definitely lives up to its reputation

@ZachWish3 жыл бұрын
I try to keep things pretty pure just to showcase an amp so there's just some subtle hi/lo passing that could be from anything but I'm using a Plugin Alliance SSL 4000 E channel strip, a bit of room reverb from Waves rVerb, and then some limiting with the FabFilter Pro-L to get the volume up to commercial volumes. KZbin also does some normalization on the audio as well if it's not already within a certain range. I would treat the signal differently if I were putting guitars in a mix, but for just solo guitar, this seems to work for me. Thanks so much for checking out the video!
