Episode 10 - Manchester by the sea

Manchester bound to go and see Sigur Ros at the O2 Apollo. We decided to make a weekend of it more than just drive up for the day as it is a few hours drive for us. We didn't camp but rather stayed into a Premier Inn, only as the camp sites were far out of the city and many had cut off times to be back in the park.

So we went to Manchester mainly to see Sigur Ros but we also decided to make a weekend out of it. We got up early on the Saturday morning and quickly packed the car, as it was only going to be a weekend there wasn't a lot to pack. We drove up to the city and where we were staying was just outside as we did not want to pay city prices for a hotel bed.
We found the Premier Inn we were going to stay at and luckily enough there was a tramline not too far down the road with very cheap parking. So we parked up, hopped onto a tram and spent the next 20 mins getting into the city centre, easy.
Once we were in the city centre this became a bit more difficult to find out where and what we were going to do. We knew we wanted to see the Cathedral but we didn't know what else to expect. We found the Cathedral and well were a little disappointed by the lack of size, it is more like a really big church than a huge Cathedral like we have seen many other times. Its free to get in and walk around but a donation is expected, there is no tour or audio guide so its really just a free for all. So we did a walk around and took some video and photos and proceeded on for the day.
Now doing a good ol internet search brought back nothing of interest, so we winged it..
Plenty of shopping so we went to the places we normally frequent like Disney store, Lego Store etc and we walked around for a little bit, there is quite a bit of architecture to look at if you just look a little bit higher than the store signs.
Back on the tram to have some dinner and snooze to start the next day. We decided to have dinner at the pub attached to the Premier Inn which there always is one and well we were not expecting the level of service we got. It was dismal the food was not as expected if it was even there as they forgot most of it and then made some excuses, we waited for our veg and when it finally arrived we had already finished the main food so that was pointless, the waitress was pretty useless and finally got to speak with the manager she agreed to refund the food as well they failed on everything.
Sleep zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
We decided to make our way to the Trafford Centre as this would give us something to do for the day. We were note expecting this. it was pretty amazing, check out the video if you haven't already but I couldn't capture it, its best to go see it for yourself really.

WOW, blown away by them AGAIN they are pretty amazing live, we saw them at teh Eden Sessions a few years ago and well would watch them again and again. they create an amazing atmosphere when playing. We would love to see them play live in their homeland.
