Thank you. This is something I learned along the way with marrying youtuber analysts with what the live games give us in terms of lineup. I learned that sometimes we see 4 defenders in the lineup but just as you've mentioned, many times the analysis skips over that one misunderstanding because yes there are 4 natural defenders however, one is playing a midfield role which actually makes the formation to analyze...a 3 defender team rather than a 4. It's some of the beauty of understanding why greatness looks the way it does. Love it so much!

Actually, he was playing CDM when City were in Madrid's half and he was playing as CB when they start the build up and off the ball. Just watch where Stones is off the ball and when Ederson has the ball

He should start with Tchouameni instead of Kroos and maybe Camavinga on midfield, who can press and recover much faster. Kroos was dying trying to cover all the midfield and the goal of Bernardo came with him and Modric totally late.
