Awesome to see the machine that was on so many great tunes : ] I had a Tascam MF-P01once and had a great time with my boss delay and DS-1 pedals. Thanks for the great videos, Aziz

That’s a lovely 4 Track. Really good album 2. There is a lot to be said for recording in a more homely relaxed atmosphere. As a pose to a big studio with the clock ticking away and a end line to meet. Gomez bring it on and unfinished Monkey biz were 2 of the best albums in my opinion from the 90s and both recorded on 4 tracks. This is all the rage now a days but back then it was a very rare thing. Innovators. A head of the time.

Wow, great piece of kit. Square one Studios in Bury which the Roses eventually bought, had one of those so I know it well. Thanks bro, yep writing more now. All the best.

The "Rolls Royce" of cassette 4-tracks! No surprise you were able to use stuff off it for the album itself coz they sound grrrrrrrrreat! Mine's my only recorder (fuck computers!). Big cult following for these, and the bigger versions that recorded to Betamax-like cassettes. There's a dedicated Facebook group for Akai MGs, if anyone's interested?
@AzizIbrahimMusic2 жыл бұрын
Yep please do post the link. I worked on the 12 track too for a while at a studio in Bury so know it well.

Hi Aziz, is there any chance you could do a more 'in depth' video on this machine and UMB? I'm sure many fans would love to see/hear you going through the original multitrack tapes. This would be absolute mega grade content. Hope you're well anyway. Long time no see. Cheers, from the other side of town.

Gosh I had an old ensoniq rack sampler i grafted for nearly a year very similar to the akai .. and it let me down live wise particularly at one gig under Stockport viaducts i plonked on beer crates .. it’s come a long way 😂😂😂

As they say ‘shit always happens’. Been in similar situations and fortunately I can always play a tune on the guitar on one string if need be. Yep I remember their range of sampler & others

I do yes but they’re not demo’s they are the original track upon which we built around. Masters in a sense.

Robert Edwards Every chance Rob. Will put it on the list and post. Been playing it a lot this year so the parts are in my head. Ian and I both played bass on it. I programmed the drums but got Simon Moore to overdub some drums. Same guy on the MTV video of ICCube.

It's amazing to see. Thanks for sharing. I was wondering the other day, for your track Mummy's Boy, how did you work with Reni on it? Did you work with him in a studio or did he simply send you a drum loop? Just curious of how you make the magic. 😊
@AzizIbrahimMusic5 жыл бұрын
Josy Posy Reni’s drums came from an old Roses studio session and I made a breakbeat from it. Shame it wasn’t more but his groove is incredible.

I'm about to buy this for $20 lol does this have microphone compression? LOL I might use this for my podcast
@AzizIbrahimMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica, if you're talking about the Akai MG614 - no it doesn't have compression to use with plugging in a microphone or any other instrument for that matter. It's a posh 4 track cassette portastudio, although cassette tapes give compression of their own. It does have inserts on the channel so you could put a compressor there. The Channels offer good eq, inserts and auxes plus sub mixing which is good for sending different monitor mixes I suppose, for podcasting. Hope that helps.
