WTH?!? This hard ass sound? Wtf did this come from, guys? I just got into these guys 2 years ago, maybe a hair less but I've never heard this side of them before now. What a drastic switch-up. Not a fan whatsoever of the Cope song but this one is THE TITS!! For a sec there I thought this track was gonna resemble the cookie cutter, over polished shit-noise of bands like Three Days Grace and...I can't even name any others but they unfortunately resemble that classic TDG sound...but then it had depth and thoughtful, well constructed, mature lyrics. A real unexpected treat. Just waiting for me in my phone after a somewhat trying day. *PISSCLAIMER* [somewhat sincerely] Sorry to any TDG fans if I offended u but we can't all enjoy everything. I will only insult music I don't care for if it's in my line of sight or I can hear it. If we were all this fair well I think it would inspire positive change in Saltzman township area and maybe even beyond Saltzman. Lord knows if any town could use some positivity it'd be Hickory. If it's traveling west that is.

Why no comments on the coin? It shows the skull and crossbones with a strawhat on top. In other words, it's a reference to the popular Japanese comic One Piece. Now I don't believe that's a coincidence, because aside from zany colourful characters, friendship and action, that comic series is known for discussing themes like power, corruption, academic freedom, discrimination, oppression, misinformation, fear and the complexity of good and evil. Thoughts?

Also, the sign language (which probably explains the hand clapping over the ear near the end), and what appears to be the burning of photos showing one half of a pair of twins. (Which clearly refer to the first and second stanzas of the song.) Someone also mentioned a page from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban at 1:46, which is a story about a man wrongfully imprisoned for a murder he did not commit. And at the beginning, we see a rolling dice that settles at the end of the video, which could symbolise decided fate. And the whole time, the line "this is no way to fix it" keeps repeating. Not to mention the whole video being shot in black and white, and the flashes of fire. Hmmm...I think I'm beginning to see a pattern...

Mike Acord Oh. Well, I'll admit I'm not too sure how things are in the US or in Britain. Aren't Manchester Orchestra (MO) an American band though? Or does Poundland have any branches across the ocean? In any case, I was merely trying to connect the dots with my limited knowledge, since MO's videos have proven to be rich in allusions before. How do you find my observations (in both comments) thus far? (Sorry for being bothersome. I just love finding someone to discuss these things with.)

Mike Acord True. Sometimes, as an amateur writer, I just want to say 'the curtains were fucking blue' too. But as I mentioned, I'm basing my assumption that this video has actual symbolic meaning on their previous videos. Virgin definitely spoke of a dystopian society and mismatched, twisted values. Simple Math was pure story, but a strong narrative gem. It would appear to me, therefore, that Manchester Orchestra don't (always) do videos for the sake of doing videos. Because, you know, not all music is just meaningless entertainment. :)

Yes he is doing sign language, the lyrics tell of a story of two deaf kids stuck in a burning house, thus they have to make their decision on who lives, and who stays behind. Neither of them want to leave the other to die though.

Wait it out in the closet.), as the video suggests via fire, possibly after murdering their parents or abusers.
