Alan Smith was in beast mode in this game in an unfamiliar midfield role

That was what Chelsea have been doing to opponents throughout their dominance under Mourinho. Fergie beat Jose at his own game, scoring then park his own bus but threaten on counters to give the “Special One” a taste of his own medicine. Jose is a specialist is parking buses but Fergie’s buses are more effective than his.

what a match this was for an utd fan. Everyone had written utd off. but could you see the spirit of the team. current team not showing an ounce of it. This match need to be shown to current bunch of overrated players.
@USCFlash5 жыл бұрын
they were a great team, but they lost 9 times in all competitions that year....so they were not really *THAT* impossible to beat.

Man that Chelsea team was unreal, beating them must've felt like winning a cup final lol
@robicenco14 жыл бұрын
It did! The two games I compare it to are the 1-0 win at Newcastle in March 1996 and the 1-0 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final in 2004. Both of those teams were close to invincible in those seasons (Newcastle at home, Arsenal in general), and the wins felt like we'd won the world cup. And so did this game - perhaps this one was even more pleasing though. This Chelsea team was machine-like.

@AxHaalandFC Nope. Had it not been for Arsenal bottling it, City wouldn't even have won the league this year, lmao. Cech, Carvalho, Terry, Cole, Makelele, Essien, Lampard, Robben, Drogba.. with prime José managing? Forget about it. Chelsea conceded just 15 goals during the entire 2004/05 season. Haaland would get bullied badly. If you can't score, you can't win. Prediction: 0-0 at the Etihad, 3-0 at the Bridge.

Never mind beating Chelsea (who until then had gone 39 games unbeaten), even scoring against them was an immense feat. I remember the intro before the game, it had a wave of a blue pulsing out of London and Old Trafford cracking up and breaking a apart. This goal and the win was phenomenal.
@cddb54082 жыл бұрын
So Arsenal did 49 (2003 to 2004, ended by ManUtd) Chelsea did 39 (2004 to 2005, ended by ManUtd) ManUtd did 29 (2010 to 2011, ended by Wolves lol) But ManUtd also still have the Champions league unbeaten record of 25 games 2007 to 2009.
