One Ton of Refrigeration, Definition and Principle

Unlike that of other electrical appliances in which the capacity is generally denoted in terms of watts i.e. the amount of electrical power consumes, in refrigerators the capacity index is 'ton' not the amount of power consumed. Why it is so? you can learn by this easy lecture.

That is short ton, taKing mass of ice to be 907kg, however 1 ton is 1000kg. universly accepted value is 1ton= 3.5 kw. Furthermor 1us ton is 907 kg, SI unit ton is 1000kg.
