@@christopherharrison4453 Imperial Star Destroyers are kind of overused. Gideon does not need something as grotesquely large as a Star Destoyer that requires a lot of maintenance and fuel. He most likely went with the cheaper and smaller alternative

oddly enough there is a game called FTL. So you have a ship on the constant run from the enemy and along the way to friendly space you can fight pirates, fight enemy scouts, get weapons better shields through loot or buy better weapons and gear through a merchant. events in the game are randomly generated and you have some ten ships with 2-3 different variants each changing up the play style. fun game and not too pricey either. computer requirements : potato

A few games exist where you could walk around ships, Star Citizen exists but not done. Empyrion you can outright try to build this ship and that game is still being updated. You can customize every bit ( within the games limits of course) you can yes enter every room, place every thruster, turn them off one by one or use all, etc. You can land on planets ( seems to be thusands of Solar Systems so yup thousands of planets to land on, mine, build base etc, you can build a smaller ship that you can dock inside your base or carrier, you can build a smaller ship that has a hover vehicle dock inside and have that ship dock in your carrier and other players can join you as the pilots in those ships etc.

When you've got big CGI infested battles like in other movies it just doesn't feel authentic to me either anymore. I'd rather have authentic and maybe less cool looking scale models and actual actors than a bunch of overly flashy obviously fake CGI models

@@scoutman66 with the birth of AI you won't notice real from CG in the future. AI can already generate photos of people that don't exist. You can't notice the difference. You would confuse it for real photos. CG hasn't reached its full potential yet. There won't be miniatures in the future unless used for tourists or selling to collectors.

Ironically it's the use of CGI in _The Mandalorian_ that makes this model so damn impressive. it's because the techniques Favreau developed for filming on a digital set are so damn good at providing more depth to a scene than traditional CGI methods. It allows directors and filmmakers to integrate models into their sets without sacrificing the flexibility of a CGI backdrop. The other factor is how much better the lighting can be thanks to the use of these giant LED illuminated projector screen. And of course actors have a real-time reference for what they're supposed to be interacting with rather than relying on non representative props.

Having given it more thought, it could easily just be a modified/custom-made Arquitens command cruiser. The differences are honestly minimal, and I'm not even sure if it is bigger than an Arquitens, you could just fit a Lambda shuttle through the same gap on a classic Arquitens.

@@jj_b5400 but in the rebels show, they showed that a lambda shuttle couldn’t fully fit into the prongs of the arquitens, while in The Mandalorian, it could easily fit in, some on reddit said that Moff Gideon’s cruiser was atleast 400+ meters, more than the 325 meters of the original arquitens. so i’d say Moff Gideon’s cruiser is like a successor to the Imeprial Arquitens

I always did like the concept of "medium" sized ships like this that bridge the gap between corvettes and Imperial-class Star Destroyers. Star Destroyers are cool and awe inspiring and all, but to me having a mix of ship sizes in your fleet just makes sense. Especially if you want to send a single ship on a mission that doesn't require the firepower/manpower of a Imperial-class Star Destroyer (like maintaining a garrison on a border world or hunting down a small pirate fleet.)

On a similar note I would like to see a Carrack-class Light Cruiser, Gladiator Star Destroyer, Strike Cruiser or Vindicator Heavy Cruiser or some other imperial mid-size ship brought to a show - maybe even a live action installment - in the new canon as opposed to always the Arquitens or now it's visually near-indistinguishable cousin the Class 546, and some more variety for smaller ones other than the Raider Corvette and the Gozanti (~20-50 years old, civilian, technically non-imperial) Transport, like say, Lancers, VT-49s or even Tartans or IPVs. Something that shows that the Empire not only has more than two ships smaller than the ISD, but that they also have ships not made by Sienar or KDY (even if some of the ships I mentioned just now like the Lancer and Gladiator are Kuati designs, while the Vindicator has the familiar wedge-shape).

This ship is a bit larger than an Arquitens Light Cruiser and has fewer but far more powerful Turbolaser Batteries. Apparently it's Turbolaser Bolts turn from green to red while in atmosphere.

This as an UCS Lego set would be an instant buy, I love the look of these Arquitens-class cruisers. Also waiting for the inevitable re-reveal of Star Destroyers alongside the re-reveal of Thrawn but in live-action on the Ahsoka show. I'm loving how the Thrawn trilogy is pretty much getting told, in some manner, through these TV shows (Boba, Mando, and Ahsoka).

I feel like the ship's front launch bay is quite flawed. It's very tight for TIE Fighters or shuttles to get into, so the chances of them hitting on either side of the bay is high.

That's true. The Problem is they werent originally designed to have such an internal hangar if i am right. It was a refit/later production models that had that. Many only had like docking clamps in that gap for fighters and ships to dock, which are far more reasonable considering the tight space.

The Xyston-class was basically an upscaled ISD (1st version). Same general design overall, but bigger & with enough differences to get a new class name. Same here. They just took the Arquitens and upscaled it. That being said, the very second that split-front appeared I legit yelled out 'ARQUITENS!', because finally seeing that design in live-action was awesome.

For anyone wondering a standard arquintens class light cruiser which is seen in the clone wars, Star Wars rebels, Star Wars squadrons and Star Wars battlefront is 230 meters long, this version is the arquintens 546 variant and it is put at a length of 381 meters long so much bigger than a normal arquintens and 81 meters longer than a nebulon b frigate.

The size measurements are murky as it appears bigger and smaller in some instances. Sometimes it is the same size as an imperial command light cruiser, where other times (when scaled compared to characters like the dark trooper) is around 425 metres long.

Main difference seems to be a somewhat different bridge and the larger hangar and frontal launch tube. Quite disappointing though that that seems to be Gideon's flagship - a former Moff that couldn't even find a Star Destroyer.

No this is a completely different model, not the arquitens light cruiser. The class 456 cruiser is around twice the size of an arquitens, around 1 third of a star destroyers size.

It is it has an internal hanger bay that can hold eight tie fighters and a lambda t4a shuttle and it had a much larger bridge (Central command center) it’s estimated that it’s around 462 meters and it’s called a 546 class cruiser

i like this ship, but there is an error in the cgi, in a scene the frontal "catapult" is barely large enough to allow a tie fighter to launch and then a whole Lambda/Sentinel class shuttle can fit inside.
