I love your way of teaching Mandarin through stories. A great thing is that you introduce your vocabulary and repeat it all the time in the most appropriate context. It's packed with the very vocabulary you need when starting in Chinese. Diction is crystal clear. Very high quality! If I may give a suggestion, slightly faster delivery with pauses between clauses to give the listener time to process them would be valuable. The possibility of speeding up the playback on second listening achieves much the same effect, though.

Breakthrough! I was struggling with the HSK 1 videos a few weeks ago and have been studying nonstop since, watching all kinds of videos, using apps, etc. Now, out of nowhere, I could follow all of this video first time without slowing or pausing, and didn’t have to think too much as long as I focussed. Still quite a few words I don’t know but the context let me figure most of them out. Very surprised to be honest. I didn’t realise how far I had progressed.

is céng and lóu the same like in English? I know they're both "floor" but can you use "xiézi zài lìu céng"? and "shàng dìan yôu lìu lóu" instead? thank you in advance

You can say 鞋子在六楼 or 鞋子在六层 to express “shoes are on the sixth floor” and you can say 商店有六层 or 商店有六个楼层 to express that “the store has six floors”. This is because if you said 商店有六楼 would mean “the store has a sixth floor”. If you want to express the quantity of floors, you need to use 层 (céng) or 楼层 (lóucéng). We hope this helps you!
