It can remove contaminants but cannot change hard water to soft.

sir it will filter the water with all contaminated I do agree what about the softening the water softening the water is the main process due to hard water high tds the drum will get damage it will have irritating sound from the machine. I don't recomment this product because in the machine inlet there is a filter once in a month I am cleaning it and using scaling powder I am fine with this.

Water keep splashing from the filter cap. I have put Teflon tape but no use. Its better if they come up with a filter which we can fix at the tap. Every time reaching washing machine back side to fix it is very difficult.

Also I LG technician gave descalant powder and told to use every month, is it not enough to prevent scaling? How do u see it's performance,bcoz it's been 3years u r using?how often do u change its cartridge?

Your problem seems severe. I would suggest you check the pipings for rust and get your washing machine serviced and de-scaling done.

Which tape is this? Teflon tape. If yes, it is to be applied on threads while fitting to prevent leakage. It is not necessary if there is no problem.

Hi, I recently installed the WMF-617 filter. What I need to understand is, the water is supposed to pass through the candle. in the centre. If that is the case, then how is the gushing water 'visible' (over the candle) through the transparent cover. Thanks.

Water does accumulate outside but will pass through the candle only. The candle is detachable and washable. Try opening it. You will understand the working.

Does it soften the water? by how much does it reduce the hardness? Have you measured it? Can you share if you have ?

It does filter the water. I have no device to measure it except my naked eye which can see all the dirt stuff collected in the filter every once a while. I clean the whole thing and install it right back.

Very good question. Mr Mandeep can measure water quality by using TDS meter and tell us, how much hardness is reduced after using filter.

vijay rasve Definitely worth using it. I can see the deposits even on the outer part of filter and I simply clean it with soap and water every week. I can't imagine what kind of water my clothes were being previously washed with. If you can afford it, you should go for it. It can definitely improve hard water to a great extent.

No need to change cartridge for too much cost. Just buy the antiscalant ball's for 50 rupees & use it. It's available in water purifier shops.

Pallavi's FOR THINGS BEAUTIFUL I have tested it in hard water with lots of salt. It works. I have no way to confirm or test the device in hard water with lots of iron. However, having said that I didn't find a better solution than this in the market. You can ask the company directly for help on that or even go ahead and try.
