Yeah the Mandelbrot Butterfly is kind of like the Holy Grail... I've heard Travis Taylor talk about someone finding a Cosmic God Fractal, and I chuckle. I found the Butterfly figure more than 35 years ago now. It seemed too good to be true, so I set it aside, but then a revolution in Cosmology made some of its predictions more and more reasonable over time. So if you had a way to look at the very beginning of the universe, trace its evolution, and look at how it ends; what would you do with that? I have mostly talked about the predictions with various scientists and kept quiet about the fact they came from M. But with the Butterfly as a guide, there is a lot one can learn about Physics and Cosmology. So folks can expect to see more videos coming out soon, explaining how the butterfly came to be and talking about what it might mean. More later, Jonathan

Hi Folks, Yes I am happy to be alive and well. If you want to make butterflies, you use the standard Mandelbrot equation, but you have to add some temporary variables to save prior values of the iterand magnitude or size, to the inside loop. The butterfly appears when you color in those points where size diminishes over three iterations. Specifically; we use z --> z^2 + c, where c is the location on the complex plane, a complex number in the format a + bi. In the standard approach the calculation stops at the iteration limit, or kicks out when the magnitude or distance from (0, 0i) exceeds 2. So the Pythagorean theorem says c^2 = a^2 + b^2 and if c^2 > 4, it gets colored in. Next we need to add variables for the last and previous size. If you want to draw the butterfly; the calculation loop begins with sizeprev = sizelast and then sizelast = sizenow so that it gets incremented each time. The initial values are typically set to the location's magnitude for sizenow and the bailout value for the last and previous values. That's all for now... Jonathan

I love the visual capabilities to see a small part of God, through Math. A way for mankind to visually see, a small part of Infinity. A small part of Creation. This is only a small part of Infinity, but it is still Infinity. Infinity is infinite, in an infinite amount of ways, but this still prove Infinity exists in at least one way. And if it exists one way, it has to exist in everyway.

Thank you, I am so bored with the Mandelbrot and I mean BORED. Why does it have to be that same upside down or sideways Buddah anyway? Have seen dozens of other Zooms in different shapes. Your compilation is very colourful, I like that. Thank you and Good Luck with your competitions🌈🍀🧓

Alive and well indeed... There's a bold way to say it. The Mandelbrot Butterfly figure is Travis Taylor's Cosmic God Fractal, if you will. What the Butterfly shows are the Misiurewicz points, the tipping points between order and complexity. So we can see the specific analogies between places in the Mandelbrot Set and Physical Cosmology. It's almost like reading a scroll describing the origin and the ultimate fate of the universe. I've put this out in front of scientists at international conferences, and folks are not lining up to endorse it but nobody has effectively shot this idea down. Thurston's last work, in collaboration with Tiozzo, showed a connection of the Mandelbrot Set with the Core entropy of Quadratic Polynomials. A point called M_3,1 near -1.54689 seems to well mimic BECs and the Schwarzschild Black Hole horizon. This connection is well-documented. But I keep finding more parallels with various theories. So I would say the idea that the Mandelbrot Set could be a map of the cosmos' history remains viable. More later, Jonathan

Howdy Remo... This video uses the standard Mandelbrot equation z --> z^2 + z, and the standard algorithm, but with a twist. This alteration highlights points where the iterand's magnitude diminishes steadily over 3 values. To do this; one must insert two new variables at the top of the loop, that one can call SIZELAST and SIZEPREV if SIZE is the iterand magnitude. SIZELAST is given the current value of SIZE and SIZEPREV the current value of SIZELAST, before the formula is executed. Then at the end of the loop; one checks for the condition SIZE < SIZELAST < SIZEPREV and colors those spots in on the iteration count that condition is met. That is the Mandelbrot Butterfly algorithm. All of the video segments were created in Chaos Pro 4.0 and I have formula sets available. Best, Jonathan
