Great work! Do you check working and non-working movements?
@pongsirijaikumpun40864 жыл бұрын
Hi George, practically, we instruct our students to do it, so they can learn occlusal surfaces and their functions. but I do not show it here in this video. :)

for example, on 0:12 how do you know where to draw the buccal lines and lines on the occlusal to draw the cones? whenever i do my buccal cones they are always too buccal and short. Thank you so much
@pongsirijaikumpun40864 жыл бұрын
Dear Ashley, we determine an imaginary line along the dental arch from the canine cusp tip to buccal cusp tips of the second molar. When you draw the line, please keep in mind that buccal cusps of mandibular posterior teeth are always more lingually (~2-3 mm from the surface margin), so they can sit at the central pits and grooves between buccal and lingual cusps of the opposite posterior maxillary teeth. I hope this helps. ;D Good luck, Nui

@@pongsirijaikumpun4086 thank you. Also, from my question below, how do you get the wax up to be so smooth? I wrote more about the specifics of the quesiton below..

also, how do you get your wax up to be so smooth? mine is very rough looking. I do use polish...i think it may be a problem with how I am putting down the wax. How long do you heat the instrument with the wax on it before putting it down? also how long do you wait after heating it to put the wax down? Thank you again :)
@pongsirijaikumpun40864 жыл бұрын
Dear Ashley, Yes, you are right. First of all, please make sure that you always put a hot (but not too hot) PKT onto the wax to melt it and then transfer it to the model. When you heat your PKT, do not put the tip to the fire. You should heat the PKT only at the shank or neck area, and let the heat move to the tip. I cannot say how long I heat the instrument. You have to try yourself, you will see it. Secondly, do not put the wax directly to the fire otherwise most of the time it will burn. If you see any smoke, either when you put your hot PKT onto the wax or from any other situation, be aware that that's not right. Wipe that burned wax out with tissue paper and prewarm your PKT and do it again. Thirdly, please make sure that the wax you are putting onto your model is fully melted. Burned or under-melted wax will create black or white lines as well as separations, voids, and bubbles. Forth, if your wax is well melted. you should use PKT no.4 to carve and smoothen the surface. Then polish the model with fine stocking and finish with a cotton bud soaked with warmed diluted soap water. Finally, if you already have any of wax problems, (based on my experience) it's better to make a new one. Re-melt or redone using the old wax will always make it worse. Good luck :D Nui

when you are first starting how do you know where to draw the lines with the pencil so you know where to put the buccal cones?

How do u determine where to draw your lines exactly
@PongsiriJaikumpun4 жыл бұрын
Dear Taif, Ashley asked similar questions. Here I forward my response to you. First, I want to say that this a part of the dental anatomy course. The aim of this video is to introduce the second-year dental students to the posterior teeth's anatomy. We have two dental casts; Master and Practicing casts. They are identical. On the master cast, we draw lines, paint areas with colors, and study anatomy according to the lines and painted areas. On the practicing cast, we cut the occlusal surfaces of the posterior teeth in order to rebuild them according to what we study from the master cast. Therefore, to answer your question. Ideally, we try to draw the lines by transferring those lines from the master cast to the practicing cast. We determine an imaginary line along the dental arch from the canine cusp tip to buccal cusp tips of the second molar.
