That was a masterclass of what a great singer/songwriter can do. As lovely as the original is, this is just as good and what a great ode to the wonderful and gifted Ricky Scaggs, one of the greatest tenors in music.

Dig into his live shows and you'll be amazed at how dynamic he and his band, The Noisemakers, truly are. It's an absolute joy to spend time listening to Bruce :) He's an global musical treasure and one of America's most underrated composer, pianist, and musician.

Absolutely wonderful you've put out another album, Bruce. Something I just don't understand, looking at your 2020 tour dates... nothing in Virginia... really? That's where it all began. So unfortunate... still and will always continue to love your music. From one Virginian to another... please come home sometimes. You still have a fanbase here. Keep up the great work Bruce. Thanks to your music, the miles for this OTR truck driver never seem as endless as they are.

Love Bruce doing anything- this is wonderful as is the arrangement. Do love the other version of the song better- sad that you dont hear him do this anymore. Would have been a real intellectual exercise a different song based on the same words!
@IR-yb1tb2 жыл бұрын
That was a studio sound on the original. Also, his voice has changed a lot as he changed it & he's "in the shrinking years" so the mellower key maybe suits the vocal range he can achieve a lot better.

@Matthew Hoopes The versions put me in different moods. I LOVE both versions, but for very different reasons. This version personifies a relationship I had my senior year of high school. However, the original version doesn't have the same affect on my recollections and the memories of a love lost.

For me, this is the ruination of a great song. The rhythm of the original is gone. The haunting quality of the original is gone. This is a “punctuated” over orchestrated monstrosity that destroyed my love for the original.
