LEGO Star Wars 7663 SITH INFILTRATOR Review! (2007)

The 2007 LEGO Star Wars Sith Infiltrator holds a special place in my heart. It's not perfect as it has some weird quirks with a couple play features and only one Minifigure in Darth Maul... not upgraded at all from his 1999 appearance. But dang the Sith Infiltrator & Maul's Speeder Bike builds are FIRE. I hope the rumored LEGO Star Wars 2024 Sith Infiltrator set surpasses this for me!

the darth maul for this set actually has a slightly newer head print with the pupils/ eyes being a more yellow color versus the 1999 version being orange/reddish along with a better face paint print or tattoos

Yep the torso while the same print is now grey instead of white. I don't get why bricklink considers it the same as the 1999 minifig cos it's not at all

Yeah, Bricklink also lists the 2011 Maul as having the same face print when it's actually completely different.

This is such a blast from the past, this was one of the first ever Lego sets I ever got. I would one day like to look through my collection for the pieces, and pick up the parts I can't find from bricklink and reassemble it.

I was much more into LEGO Harry Potter as a kid so I don't have many memories of owning older Star Wars sets but this was definitely one of them. I remember swooshing it around and loving the bike that came with it. SO excited for the new one coming out this year!

I dont remember Lego Harry Potter when I was a kid. But I'm 20, so mabye I'm a bit older then you. I had some Star Wars sets( mostly) a couple Indiana Jones sets, and a couple SpongeBob sets and a couple lego city ones. I could have had others I forgot, but those are the main ones. I don't remember Harry Potter back then though. My favorite year for Lego is 2007, cause that clone battle pack is my favorite set of all time.

The 2007 darth maul had a different face print than the 1999 one

The legs swivel so that the landing gear doesn't fall, you can swivel the legs to prop up against the bricks. Congrats to the early lego designers for giving us good sets!!!

Got the 2015 one NSIB last year for $200. Even though there's a new one coming soon, I do not regret one bit picking up that 2015 one.

It's an amazing set! I love it! The design is very sleek and smooth and the cockpit is perfectly integrated into the main body of the ship. Also those pieces used for the wings are a perfect choice.

When i was younger and had this, i used to love using the two pins in the middle to act like the ship got blown in half, i bet tons of other people did aswell. Cant wait for the new one this year!

Wow, this was one of my first sets and have incredibly fond memories of it. I forgot about all those crazy play features. It's now in my basement collecting dust but what a throwback! Awesome set and by far the best infiltrator imo. Wonder if the new one coming out will be just as good

Yeah Bricklink has the 1999, 2007 and 2011 Mauls as all having the same face which is obviously wrong. I raised it on their discussion forum in the past but it didn't go anywhere.

It's a shame there is no 25th anniversary Darth Plageuis figure. Considering this ship was his, and it was designed by his own master Darth Tenebrous, and then was given to palpatine as a gift for maul, the new one would have been a Goated set. Thematic and at least legends lore accurate. Considering the Malak figure and the infinities White Vader, no one can say they wouldnt have done it because it is no longer considered canon

I love this set. I got it used as a birthday gift for my 10th birthday or something like that. I really love this version because it is the only one that has curved wings like the model should have. I wish the would bring curved wings back

About the landing gear: if you swivel each one outward, does it prevent them from collapsing? I have to imagine that is why they would have them mounted on swivels.

in universe it's one of the most expensive ships for it's size. It costs 55 milion credits due to being a prototype with many unique parts and advanced technology. To put things into a perspective a CR90 corvette costs 3.5 milion credits and a star destroyer costs 150 milion credits. Cost was mostly inflated by it's cloaking device and some of the most powerful starship-sized weapons in the galaxy - solar ionization cannons. Those were the most advanced and deadly versions of ion cannons, being able to partially bypass shields and melt durasteel. It's pretty annoying we didn't see them on the lego models, but they never played a huge part in the movie or stories related to Maul.

I always find euro packaging to be ‘prettier’ than US Packaging. Not just Lego, but across most brands. US packaging always seems to hit you over the head with flashes, icons USPs etc.

i really thinkk making the mual speeder part of the sith infiltrator control room is the best idea as it uses a 2 in 1 design and utility unless they give you space for modification and space for storage for the speeder then everything else is second

I think the only bad parts are the landing gear and the gaps towards the front of the ship that are caused by the slope pieces they used. Both are pretty minor and otherwise I think it’s a near perfect set.

The wings were good but, honestly, as someone who doesn't have any nostalgia for this set in particular (it came out during my Dark Ages), I don't actually find it that good. The wing pieces were good, but the main cockpit area needed to be rounder and the "nose" of the ship is extremely gap-py and a downgrade from the 1999 in my book. The 2015 looked better. But they've yet to nail down the design of the ship. I'm curious to see how the 2024 version will approach things.

its super interesting to hear you and others talk about how well you think the set has aged, when my opinion tends to land in the opposite camp. I feel like its heavily dated by the complete over use of wedges. wedge bricks, plates, wings? a lot of which create odd angles and gaps that give it quite an odd look overall. I always thought the set looked great, but never owned it - I'm now realizing that it just looks good on the box art. seeing this review, and the set in hand has actually kind of ruined it for me. with all that being said the size I think is the one part that lego nailed with this set. the version before being too small, and the one after being too large. I am very keen on seeing where lego takes this next model.
