It took me and my brother about 18 hours to complete it. It goes by really fast if you have one person look up the instructions on google and work on one section and another Person work on another.

I'm kind of weird... I love the prequel ships and designs, but despise the trilogy. Great lego sets, but some of the most disappointing movies ever made. The original trilogy is so much more better written and acted and produced.

A bit late to this channel and hobby, but just picked up the ISD to go along my ATAT ( my first Lego set ) and they are imposing! I'm truly amazed at where lego has gone from when I was a kid and they had the small police station/hospitals etc. Thank you for the informative and helpful videos on different sets.

I think this set has the same play value as an in universe star destroyer. Star destroyers aren’t meant to be swooshed. It’s like a battleship stuck in the water. The play you could get is taking an advent calendar a-wing and crashing it into the bridge.

I don't have that version (75252), but I do have the (10030) version of lego: star destroyer. Back in '04 or '05, I was just 14 or 15 years old and bought it for $312 dollars. 20 years later, I still have it, all pieces acounted for, even the mini Tantive IV, plus the display sticker and stand set up. All in its original box, and I'm glad I can still enjoy it. I think that's money well spent. I will say, I prefer the (10030) version over the later versions, it just has more appeal to it. Plus the later versions look smaller than the original.

@@raykehr1832something along these lines: the company in China that makes their masks was rumoured to be ramping up production using materials from the companies that were making their paper towel and toilet paper. So out of fear of a shortage people started gathering as much as they could. Slowly but surely, country by country people saw other people hoarding toilet paper and they got caught up in the " I don't wanna miss out" mentality. For everyone outside of China it was nothing more than a fear purchase. Don't quote me on this, look it up for yourself, but I think its something along these lines.

I have mine and building it was soooo much fun and then I moved.. my family destroyed my star destroyer because they didn’t handle it properly so I had to completely take it apart to put to back together and I’m in the process of doing it again. My room is filled with pieces I stuck in bags/piles on the floor. I have a huge closet with a window so I turned it into my little “Nerdvana” room bc I don’t have a lot of clothes and it fits perfectly on the shelf (I measured lol) but it’s taking longer bc no numbered bags.. tough times are my Lego life rn haha I noticed you mentioned, but they do have the UCE AT-AT now!

So I’m curious, I have the old model bought in 2005 and had been on display ever since and over the years the nose has been slowly bending downward under its own weight. Is the interior structure a lot more robust than the previous model? Hate to have two droopy destroyers.

I will be getting this soon enough. I have an idea of where I want to put it because I really dont have any space for it unfortunately. I was thinking of getting a sturdy piece of wood, sanding it down, staining it and painting it the closest color to my living room wall and mount it there above the couch and place the destroyer on that wood piece. My biggest question regarding the set is: How structurally sound is it. I have the 2002 Star destroyer model and I noticed after a couple of years under its own weight some of the longer supporting struts were warping and bending. There were even a couple of the connector pins in the feet that broke from the shear stress. I would definitely consider this set if they have solved some of those smaller structural issues.

@@ac1dnet Not too bad, the plates still look straight and spotless, but sometimes it does break on its own and i have to do repairs from the inside- clicking it back together. I'd say go for it mate :) it aint bad, but trust me it will be annoying if you dont keep the Journal so you can put things back in place xD

As beautiful as it looks, and the build experience will be there, unlikely to buy this set. You will definitely have a great experience in building it, but once built, it go on display. Would also use the $ for future sets, especially for playability, display and coolness factor

I agree about PPP not being all important. The part out value of this has actually now surpassed the UCS Falcon - so at a retail price $100 less it’s already a better value - for now.

I think it’s worth it! But then again.. what something is worth is subjective. Some people think a $20 Lego set is expensive... while others think $20 is cheap. I spend hundreds of dollars in both my motorcycles and LEGO. People are willing to spend more on things they love... while others would look at it and say that’s a waste of money.

I was considering both this and the Falcon as a Christmas present to myself, but the lack of any semblance of an interior and the worse price to part ratio made it a pretty clear win for the Falcon, especially since I managed to score it for a little over 600 at a clearance sale. Which honestly kinda sucks, because I am a huge fan of Imperial ships and I had that really neat Destroyer from 2007 as a kid.
