Just wanted to share that I just finished killing this boss through glitch, I spent lots of deaths with this bad boy and no matter how I memorize its attacks and patterns the awakening part of it is just broken. Anyways, I had to pause the game midway and put my laptop to sleep, the next morning I tried to get back on the game, lags are expected then the boss froze all of a sudden. I had to grab the opportunity so if anyone is having a hard time with this boss and if you are playing this game on a pc or laptop, this comment might help out.

Oddly frustrating boss that reminds you the dodge has no i-frames.

The 2nd phase(phantom) is really hard but I realize important things in this movie. That is jump and boost. Jump and jump and when phantom coming, boost any direction. Then can dodge his attack. I think the air boost time is “no damage section” .

These devs hate dex players. I have memorized every move, can play the boss with no heals until the spirit shows up. Then I'm two shot. Hate this boss so much.

You are quite impressive, took me nearly 11 tries, the shadow clone kept wrecking me because I wasn't focused 😮‍💨

Such a cool boss, along with Laddak the best and most fun in the game. The shade adds a nice touch! I thought this game had some pretty good boss design.

Tips for him: The whip +4 worked really well here. Especially because of its quick attacks. hates blood and fire ao put those on the weapon. And for the second part with the shadow just wait 2 seconds then dodge into him and his attack. For whatever reason t doesnt do damage. Othwr than that its a get gud boss and probably the hardest of the game imo

holdon was i undergeared or something because i fought him with one of the starting weapons as a level 43 and dealt like 100 - 150 max

For the late game bosses, it is recommended to be lvl 50 or 60, unless your really skilled

What level were you here? I'm trying to beat this boss post-EGB nerf and I'm having a difficult time getting a run with good RNG on his attacks (i.e. no stomp, which messes up my spacing). I'll try that one slash per jump method too - I've been wailing on him boots on the ground but I think that's slower because I get caught in his swipes now and then.

I don't recall my exact level but I had hit the softcap with strength and had upgraded my greatsword as much as possible to this point.

This is what happened to me as well, i tossed my accursed phalanges like usual (yes, I’m running mind instead of the strength build featured in literally every video i can find of this game), it dropped to 3 fps like usual, only this time, he literally fucking froze, and I just beat him to death with my whip for a minute and a half. I don’t even wanna talk about how the snowy areas were with 8 strength. I don’t feel bad because the amount of times I’ve died to stupid bullshit for this exact reason is in the dozens if not hundreds by now. They really botched the switch release of this game

The input delay in this game is extreme but it peaks in this boss fight. This game is badly designed.

What did you do to not trigger the shade in phase 2? It seemed like the shade was out less than half the time, I've never seen it like that and it looked like it only did the ground rush ability not constant swiping in between the rushing? Is there an item that makes it appear less often or just RNG?

Just RNG, sometimes I've had it be more active and other attempts less so.
