The absolutely immense development in the defensive game that happened in the last couple of years is insane, these are 2 glass cannon characters piloted by some of the most elite offensive players but yet they manage to survive so many situations that'd just be checkmate not even thst long ago, this game really never stops giving

As I was rewatching this to analyze this matchup more, I started breaking down each Edge-guard attempt from both perspectives and seeing if there were things they could have done better or differently. Almost every time Mango has to edge-guard fox, he’s stuck with like 3 options and if he overcommits it could mean death. Everytime Cody was in the edge-guard position it’s a max of 1-2 things to cover. It was funny right as I was realizing that I heard scar say the homemade waffles reference that for every 3 options Falco has to cover, Fox has only 1. I feel in most aspects the matchup is even, but when you put this into perspective and it’s actually a huge part (since if you miss and edge-guard nowadays you can just die for it) I think Fox wins this matchup for sure. I would love to see Kalindi and Mango make a video about this seeing if there’s a way to optimize edge-guarding Fox better. It really makes the difference in this matchup.

mango was a bit unlucky but even if he clutched the win he wasnt playin hot enough to beat plup 2 straight sets. cody style isnt my favorite but after blasting through coinboxes and slippi ranked and putting thousands of hours more than anyone alongside zain im happy for him

Mang0 tried his best. It’s just that all these players are so crazy good that any little mistake they make can get them punished very hard. All it took was for Mango to make one mistake and Cody could take a stock. Sometimes one of them will just get 3-0d.

fox dittos are aids, when both players have good punish games a single sdi input or countershine can change the outcome of a whole stock. even if falco slightly loses mango prob enjoys playing falco fox way more
