Usually these types of breakup and reunite stories are more on the cringe side, but this one gives a valid reason for the two to breakup in high school. They kind of got caught up in the trend of couples forming around them that it seemed like they started dating just to not feel left out, which didn’t work for either of them. Once they reunite in college and begin to hang out at their own pace, then a genuine relationship was able to develop. These two just needed to find their own rhythm that fits their relationship.

I thought this will be another ex-girlfriend story where both breaks up because of a misunderstanding or stupid reason and MC still simps for the FMC but I'm glad it wasn't that way. The reason is valid and all because both of them got influenced by the couples dating in their school which eventually led to Mito and Hitoe dating which didn't end up well.
