Dude, this is more real than you know. When there is a man who is kind and considerate, but the women in his workplace think he is married, they put up walls to try and distance themselves from him. It's not deliberately mean, it's just a defense mechanism for protecting themselves from the heartache of knowing that he can't be theirs. It seems mean, but once you've been around it and figure out what's going on, you forgive them unless you're a self centered, self righteous, petty POS. If you're that kind of person who can't learn to forgive, you don't deserve happiness.

Especially when they never asked him like an adult about his situation, sure its rude to ask for personal details like that but its better than what boiled down here. I know this is par for the course for most anime/manga but you shouldn't be so shocked that people would react this way personally none of them deserved the time of day in that short moment, maybe after a few months or so to rework their relationships then maybe.
