जब किसी जातक की लग्न कुंडली के पहले, चौथे, सातवें, आठवें या बारहवें भाव में मंगल विराजमान हों, तो कुंडली में मंगल दोष है, ऐसा माना जाता है. मांगलिक दोष को लेकर ऐसा कहा जाता है कि ऐसे लोगों का विवाह सही नहीं होता. विवाह में देरी होती है या ऐसे लोगों के विवाह में दिक्कतें आती हैं. कभी-कभी ये भी कहा जाता है कि अगर लड़का-लड़की में से एक की कुंडली में मंगल दोष है और दूसरे की कुंडली में नहीं है तो वो व्यक्ति जो कि मांगलिक नहीं है. उसकी मृत्यु भी हो जाती है.
