Mangalore Tabletop Runway Landing - Indigo

Aerial view of topography before Mangalore Tabletop Runway landing was spectacular on a bright sun lit day. Note worthy was Shambavi river & Pavanje Estuary which is an awesome nature scene with 2 rivers confluence and meet Arabian sea. The water bodies and heavily forested green cover while approaching Mangalore airport is eye soothing and cool. Mangalore Airport has one of the five tabletop runways in India. While landing one can observe the adjoining land around airport is at lower elevation.

I could hear passengers unlocking seat belts even when plane cruising on runway in full speed.... I m sure, they might have lined up inside the plane when taxing to tarmac

Why they made it table top in Mangalore? Near to coastal and land is inadequately available. This table top limits landing of jumbo planes. And we can't flight to Europe too. If anybody know please tell

This is not called table top runway, check Gangtok airport which is about 1500sqft from ground level

If you check it out, the ground level around the Mangalore airport and runway are at lower elevation. Actual height is not important. Of course, Gagtok airport also has table top runway. Kozikode is another. In all there are 6 of them in India.
