Cairns have been an important landmark since the Viking Age. Around year 1000 AD cairns was part of
a national warning system along the Norwegian coast.
When unknown boats was seen they lit a fire on the cairn.
Near the place I live there is several cairns that is a part of a popular hiking trails.
The dramatic history of the cairns and the beauty of the sceneries
along the long coast line has been a source for inspiration for this piece.
