This goes thru Alvin Bragg's Manhatten District Attorneys Office. He just had a case dismissed after it's judicial review said it "looked like it was thrown together by interns". This guy is gonna run circles around NYPD. And, whoever made the decision in the NYPD to release facts of the crime upon discovery was a huge mistake.

This will be a fascinating trial, because... On the one hand, the defense will want to capitalize on public sympathy for the defendant, so you'd think they would go through how he lives in pain every day, how coverage was denied, and the injustice of it all while insurance companies stuff their pockets... But on the other hand, everything I just said strongly suggests Luigi is guilty, as it's all motive evidence. So they won't actually do that. They will have to figure out a way to walk the line between (a) garnering sympathy for the defendant, and (b) actually trying to defend against the factual allegations. Because of this, you also could have a situation where the prosecution weakens its own case by purposely not introducing motive evidence because they are concerned about public sympathy. It's all very backwards.
