It’s mad how ALL of this ( the alienation people feel, the permanent need for entertainment and useless information, the atomization of our relationships, the constant propagandizing by for profit media, the growing inequality, the contradictions of the capitalist system, and more) was described and predicted over 100 years ago by Marxist thinkers. Cold War propaganda has really done a disservice to the American people.

Loneliness is a state of mind. People can be lonely in isolation or in a crowds. You can be lonely when you have no one to be with ( physical state) or you can be lonely when lone when you are with some one with whom you could no longer reach ( you are with someone (in physical sense) but you are pretty alone in your mind when you can no longer reach or like you said those around you were neither curious nor care to try to understand. Imagine going through all that while suffering physical pain. I wouldn’t wish that even on those I despise.

The insurance company is denying COVERAGE, meaning they're refusing to pay for treatment recommended by a doctor. The patient can still get whatever treatment is recommended - if the patient is willing (& able!) to pay for it himself. Is there a way that you live your life that makes you different from a person you might see as an NPC? The USA is 40 Trillion $ in debt, and our leaders are logically going to drag their feet to spend 1 red penny on a national health care system. I'm Japanese rooting for Luigi as I know how brutal the US insurance industry is. The 47 RONIN revenged for their lord in the Edo era. They were told to die with seppuku by the Shogunate to keep the law and order. But Japanese people rooted for those 47 Ronin. They loved them so much and 47 Ronin became a Kabuki play even. So I don't know why he thought that Japanese have no agency. We do but we also respect the law and order. It's a balance. I assume the police man didn't think it was a life or death situation when Luigi wanted them there. Because if it is life or death, we call an ambulance not a police man. Anyway, Japanese cannot speak English fluently for what they really think.I cannot comment as freely as in Japanese. And a lot of western guys think I am reserved... NO its just I cannot speak freely and it is tiring to speak so I just shut up. I mean, he came to Japan for weeks or a couple of months without knowing anyone in Japan not being able to speak Japanese. If he cannot communicate with them then how can he talk things he is interested in with them? What about Thailand? Thai people can speak English more I suppose. I wonder if he went to other countries rather than Japan, the outcome might have been different. Anyway I wonder if Luigi ever watched anime like Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga and the likes. If so then he could have been able to find many Japanese to talk to about them. Currently I am watching "Orb: the movement of the earth". Dont know much about anime handling societal issues though. But I knew the SNS issues by Jonathan Height.
@Ryan91487Ай бұрын
Reason why he thinks this is due to conformity and rigidity he observed and drew his own conclusions off of that. The old adage of the "Nail that sticks up gets hammered down" and so forth. In regard to the whole US health industry and universal healthcare, even if we dispatched all the corporate greed, there would be another issue, namely the multiple demographics in our country. Certain demographics have unique health problems others do not get; this results in a tribal like mentality of "Why should I directly pay or my taxes pay for a sickness I will not get?" (See the documentary "Dispatches: When Cousins Marry" and you will understand how it can put stress on the system) When you have only one demographic in a country, it is easier to be willing to pay into the system because the predispositions for illnesses are more likely to be understood and higher empathy placed towards those in the same circle as oneself. The Multicultural country results in conflict and fighting because they do not look past grievances they have to see the bigger picture. Whole universal healthcare however can have a darker side to it, namely the fact it could lead down a road to Eugenics. To alleviate cost, they will encourage mandatory genetic testing and so on to get rid of genetic diseases which sounds fine on the surface, but people may utilize it towards their own aims in mind and wish to get rid of OTHER things as well, definitions could easily change when one person is in power and sees it as a form of control. Some people do fear that if such a system is implemented, it may result in too much government oversight. Placing too much control in the hands of a governing body is just a massive double edged sword people do need to consider. While free market can be driven by greed, leaving such control of health in the hands of the government may have far worse consequences should one who has ambitions of power and dominance take the reins of society. Just be aware that while we do need to remove greed in the healthcare industry, that does not exempt is from having scrutiny or refusal of lax judgment towards the other end of it.
@opensesame8888Ай бұрын
@@Ryan91487 Japan may be seen that way to Westerners, but we feel different. We are very patient people, so our level of taking action is different. We are calmer. So this may be one of the major factors that Westerners feel we are rigid. To the Japanese, Westerners look drama queens in general. (No, Luigi doesn't look drama queen. There is this Japanese guy who also killed a way important person to protest the social problem. Yamagami killed Shinzo Abe the former prime minister of Japan who was using the anti-communist Moony cult members for election. Moony is from South Korea that uses Korean historical views to brainwash Japanese to donate money for Korean cult. And Yamagami family got destroyed by Moony through his brainwashed mother. I don't think Yamagami is a drama queen. I can't blame Yamagami either even though PM Abe was better than other members within his party. I felt I was betrayed by PM Abe and my tear dried up when I heard why he got shot. Luigi and Yamagami have a lot in common.) And I feel that general American people are becoming black-like people more and more in character. I know lots of young Americans talk/act like Black people. To me, black people's high tension is from different planet. We sure be seen like robot from majority of black people. I cannot predict what they will do. Anyway, we should honor the difference. Each people stay who they are. It's boring if everyone is the same. You need to keep looking for people/culture you like to stay around. >>"Nail that sticks up gets hammered down" This originally means that rivals get hammered down by someone/people in power. And some Japanese and many foreigners misuse this adage to criticize the collectivism of the Japanese society. This adage applies more to the US society that is ruled by the elites (oligarchs) who have been hammering down whatever threats/rivals. And most Americans like you know any rivals that threat the rulers in the US will get hammered down. This is why Luigi is rare among all other NPC Americans who don't take actions. French has more guts than Americans due to their French Revolution spirit. Paris is always burning. lol Canada, UK, France, Germany, etc. are pretty diverse country with many races, but still has an universal health care plan. So your long excuse is just lame. If Americans don't wanna help fellow Americans because they are different, then BREAK UP. US is a huge country in area. You can divide it into 50 countries. Then you can nurture each difference in each country like Europe. That is a real diversity. The real diversity is not about mixing all differences up into single site of eternal civil war. In Canada, it is free to see a doctor but you need to pay 100 percent for medicine. So many Canadians get a private health insurance by employers to cover the free medicine and dental care, etc. In Japan, we pay 30 percent of cost to see a doctor but also for medicine. So we end up paying a lot less than Canadian national health plan. Also our government decide the medical price and make it as low as possible. This is why US is pushing to change the Japanese health care system. Trump tried to privatize the UK national health care plan so that the US insurance companies can go in and make profit out of UK. If Americans stay NPC being afraid of US oligarchs then the rest of us have to. Japan should stop buying US bond like a slave. Probably Japan needs to self arm with nukes because US is always use a leverage of nuclear umbrella to make Japan obey. Arabs should throw away the petro- dollar system. US elites printing US dollars is the origin of US oligarchy. Just so you know, I don't like China and Russia but US oligarchy is as threatening as China/Russia.
