This is such dangerous work and even more so in total darkness. Thank you for your great coverage and my grateful thanks to all firefighters.

Who/what is the "fire sector"? Is that who has command?
@bostonrailfan24273 жыл бұрын
sounds like division of units as there’s roof sector mentioned as well…so they’re the guy’s who’re fighting the fire inside vs. from the ground vs. from the roof vs. staging?

It’s part of the Incident Command System, which is a standardized structure for managing emergencies in the United States. Fire sector is one of the operational groups. You can organize the response a lot of different ways - by geography or by function or a combination (“Wing A Rescue” or “Wing B Nozzle” etc). “Command” is separate from “Fire Sector” or “Roof Sector”. Command refers to the Incident Commander. There is only ever one IC and they are the head of the response who coordinates the event. They set objectives and strategies for handling the response. They also ensure communications and resources are organized. There’s a lot more to it but those are some of the key ideas.

Fire sector seems to be suppression and search while roof sector seems to be ventilation .

Michael Noonan 3 minutes ago Why is it that when the firefighters are ordered out of the building by the chief that they don’t exit the building are they trying to be heroes I see it as a direct order if I were the chief they would all be facing a suspension and ordered to go back to the academy for retraining by doing this they are putting themselves and others in harms way when they say we are going to use the ladders or towers they need to get the hell out of the building they defy a direct order and I watch a lot of fire videos and it seems that they only do this in the nyfd I see it as a circus sometimes if you defy the lion tamer you get bit the union needs to step in and remedy this situation heros are awarded and defiance wil get you killed take the line with you and or if it’s bad drop it and get the hell out a collapse can occur just seconds after the order is given or like in this case a flash over the ones that would defy me would be lookin for another job or get to go dirt nappin for their negligence a lodd is not what we want to see in the brotherhood stupidity is what gets you killed especially when you had the chance to get out by self or ordered the Chain of command is being broken that’s why we have an incident command they might see something that the firefighters on the inside don’t see and defiance is not the way to become a hero hero status is earned not given at a funeral and to the chief ya need to tighten up the ship or you and it will sink they need to put out a memo that says this (when the chief says get out this means get out stop what you are doing and get out)about face and grab your fellow brothers and get the fuck out Y’all need to adress this situation this is not a joke

No one was ordered out of the building… this fire was a 100% interior attack with the fallback plan of hitting it with tower ladders. I’m finding it hard to see how your comment relates.

Michael Noonan, you must have watched a different video than I did. I did not hear any order to evacuate the building.
