Hi GP. Great review 👍. Isn't it strange how we often remember the trivial and forget about the meaningful. This song was "covered" by the staff of Grace Brothers department store in the last ever episode of "Are you being Served?" Thanks for putting these videos together, much appreciated x

I met all of them when I lived in Nashville. I actually had lunch with Janis and her son Gabriel and it was wonderful. I think I have seen them live at least 8 times. I am a fan!

They are a jazz quartet, still going up until recently.

Still going! They are appearing here in Seattle in Oct 2021. Tim Hauser passed in 2014, but there is another man in the group now, Trist Curless. But Alan Paul, Janis Siegel, and Cheryl Bentyne are still in the group.

I was surprised how good they sounded as I barely remembered their performance on TOTP except for the tune and hook, but I loved the OGWT version of their live gig. x

In case you are interested, Chanson d'Amour was a hit even before The Lettermen covered it. In 1958, it was a hit for Art and Dotty Todd (kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4iQoJiPgsd3jqM). It is a very nice recording, although The Manhattan Transfer's cover is my favorite. TMT has been my favorite vocal group for decades, and Chanson d'Amour is my favorite of their many, many wonderful recordings. Also FYI, when your video was recorded, it was before Cheryl Bentyne joined the group. The tall redhead is Laurel Masse. She left the group in 1979 after a very serious automobile accident.
