It's just a Manthwa theory. lol. The theory of the reason why his scythe can go up levels now without killing any abyssal demons in the dungeon is something based from a different manhwa. In the battle at the Yuan fort his scythe reach level cap. But let's not forget all the abyssal demons he killed on the third Yuan battlefield and also all the abyssal demons he killed during the competition while his scythe was at level cap. It never said that his scythe stopped consuming abyssal energy. It might a stockpile that abyssal energy to level up the scythe further. Once he was able to break the level cap after he got more of the necromancer set. But since one of the skills got stripped off of it. It started leveling up further to make up for the lack of power it offered. Almost like a sentient weapon.

The Brilliant Scroll basically transferred the properties of the scythe (ALL properties) to Lin's skillset: this includes its undead generals becoming a skill for Lin rather than the scythe and the scythe itself being levelled as Lin's skill rather than as an individual weapon. Basically a "skill transfer" or boost. The weapon is now embedded into Lin. That's why it can now upgrade like other skills, instead of requiring abyssal souls as an individual weapon. It is the legendary weapon equivalent of the broken Fire Mage Staff that Lin received which harbors the mage's essence and conscience. Lin would be linked to the scythe in the same way. Edit: I like to think that to nurture a weapon of this quality, one must prove themselves somewhere significant like the Abyss or the battlefield or elemental plains, before it becomes soul linked. So anyone can wield it, but only few can unlock its full potential. A weapon that is nerfed upon aquisition. Lin proved himself worthy (perhaps the fire mage staff had similar requirements in the past) and so he unlocked the full potential. It may not have unlocked if he used a brilliant scroll earlier in his progress. Could be by unlocking a certain rank in the battlefields, reaching a certain level or amount of skills, killing a certain amount of bosses, or clearing a certain amount of dungeons solo (nightmare level), many different variables could account for Lin's OP boost, but I wouldn't say it's unreasonable after all his accomplishments.

Not all stories need a happy ending, not all characters need to be brought back to life, as it invalidates the connection to the story as a whole when we, the readers, feel the loss of characters that spur the mc to greater heights. To me, it’s akin to writers regret.. and it’s the easiest and fastest way a writer can remove their own guilt while simultaneously ruining the story for the audience. If you want to read SL, just stop after he beats the dragon monarch.. because everything after that is absolute bullsh!t.. dude gave it the dumbest fking ending possible..
