Gabby was a close friend of mine (RIP Mike) and as happy as I am to see this tradition carry on, knowing damn well that Gabby didn't want it to die with him because we talked about it before he got too sick, it is still hard as fuck to watch. I was at Alex's in Long Beach for a show yesterday and kept waiting to see him come out for a cigarette or fuck with the security guards and remembering shared laughs or the lectures about drinking too much he would give me. No one warns you that part of getting old is the collective pain of family and friends who just aren't there one day. Gratitude and appreciation for the chances we do get are key I guess. Thanks Gabby, for well, being a bright spot in our lives while your bulb was burning.
