A Nurse Practitioner ( NP ) gets $ 120 k to $160k per year and a PhysicianAssistant ( PA ) too gets same range of salary in New York State . Resident Doctors have to practice under a board certified Doctor . After the completion of their residency they can get board certification. One thing you're missing about your salary is that there is an inflation adjustment each year on top of the increase in salary for your PGY level. The listed salaries are for the 2022-2023 year only. So for your PGY2 year you won't make $65,696 but more likely around $67,000 or so.

After 4.5 years college education and degree and 25 years plus experience I averaging at least half this. About $45,000.00 per year I was not a doctor or a nurse. A nurse with only about 4 years experience could possibly be making about $55,000 to $65.000 per year at my institution. And with more experience possibly more. Ultra sound tech can make $56.000 to $86,000 per year and many of these only have associates degree the high paid specialized may have full 4 year degree.

I never thought they only pay $18.4/hr doing residency. Some of Associated degree Register Nurse could make $80.000/ year easily as fresh graduates with only work 40 hours/week. If you’re doing as a traveling nurse will make more and do overtime as well. I will guide my daughter to take school for Register Nurse first before pursue her dream to be a doctor. As little as 2 years doing school nursing after graduate you can start working right way and earn a great income. As a nurse you have so much knowledge in bedside how to treat your patients from A to Z. Nurse is a second hand of the doctors who observe sign and symptoms that patients display. Your knowledge as a nurse will really benefit when you start doing medical school. Just a thought. I’m a nurse as well.

They worked half the hours they did in US hospitals and their wages were much better. The cost of living here is so much cheaper. You guys in the US get taxed to the hilt, not to mention the crippling education loans. Two said 'no guns', they wanted a safe place to raise their families.
