One thing that other games have done to inform new players of game mechanics is it shows the players tips while the game is loading. This way, new players can quickly learn how the game is played through the tips to eventually get a basic knowledge and understanding of the game and how it functions. I think Yandere Sim, with all the different ways of killing, could use a tip screen. To make it more unique, it could be like her thoughts. Maybe a tip for cleaning blood off a knife would be like “I could use drinking fountains to wash blood off of a knife” or something simple like that. It’d make the player more immersed and be very helpful

They do the same in Fate/Grand Order where they have simple explainations so some mechanics or character traits that u might’ve not known, and in the intro loading screen they have one of the character’s backstories displayed (since they’re all historical figures so it makes sense to include their real life stories)

If you want to make the gate an elimination method for a rival(or just harder in general), the gate should by default be able to sense objects while it’s shutting. Yandere-Chan would have learn how to deactivate the sensor(maybe there’s some wiring or switch of some sort or she has to learn how to possibly via learning in a club) before eliminating the student.

For the salty chip electrocution method, maybe some students can have water bottles that they bring to school. The player needs to take a victims waterbottle before class and dump all the water out in order for the method to work. If they have a full waterbottle or they they have the waterbottle with them, then they’ll drink from it and not the fountain. This way it’s more a challenge [Edit] I just thought of this but some students could also refill their water bottles throughout the day. This way, you don’t always have to get chips in order to use the electrocution method. This could also make it harder to use the “dump all their water out” method. This could serve as an obstacle and make the characters seem more human and less computer generated. Some students can refill their bottles right away, or some can be more lazy and do it later. I’m not sure how the player will find out when each student will refill their bottles tho. Perhaps the player can eavesdrop on student’s conversations to find out when they plan on refilling their water bottles. The time that the students refill their bottles can be decided by their personalities as well.

I personally don't like the way these eavesdropping cutscenes work to be honest. While I'm getting the idea behind it, it feels a bit constructed and more like the game is telling me what to do instead of being "emergent", making it feel much more linear as a result. What I personally like to see is if you gave Yandere-chan more things to do in her own room at home. Maybe she has books that may give her ideas for certain schemes and how to get away with murder. To make the reading more interesting, maybe one to three static artworks could be shown along with the short summary of the story. I feel like that's pretty easy to implement, giving the player the choice about what to read, and feeding them info bit by bit since probably only one book can be read in the evening.

Imo it's a little weird you can chill in nurses room for no reason without her saying anything to you so you can just grab the medicine/etc. Would be cool if there's an option to take someone to the nurse so you have a reason to be standing there. Not saying the game isn't challenging enough I just raised my eye brow at that one. It's very common in japan to have someone take you to the nurse when you feel ill, even in my school, they'd send you with someone. if you were in there without reason the nurse would scold you. Anywho, I think it would be cool if you could also use this as a reason to be late to class. Just my op. Thx for the updates and all your hard work. I feel like books (like horror and mystery types of novels) would be a good place to get information. But maybe unless you're in the Scooby doo gang, it can lower your popularity if you read too many. Also TV. And her skill meter wouldn't go up as high that day if at all.

I'll be honest I'm not too huge about using the scheme idea as with a lot of people, though I did see some really cool ideas like incorporating yandere vision more or having a tutorial. But scripted events to teach you about stuff can also be really fun! Like for example for the water fountain, you can have a scene maybe where one of the fountains ends up leaking a bit and you see someone using the wrench on it. Or one of the teachers or staff asks if you'd be able to help them by just tightening up a bolt while they get someone to fix it. Even for the power cable that could be something in the science club where it shows them taking apart electronics, or it's a conversation you can hear when they were discussing stuff. It could be roughly alone the lines of them saying 'how it can be dangerous because of the exposed wires, it's a good thing we don't allow water in the club room'. Adding little things like that would make the player have to be far more aware of their surroundings, if you are worried about players not knowing to listen for that you can still do a mini tutorial in the beginning, explaining school mechanics, how to pick up items, controls or even have a section for them stealing something, minor situations where they would need to switch their persona, but also ease drop on day to day conversations. Rather than just making sometimes pointless day to day conversations always running you can have hints and even knowing tricks, if Ayano walks closer to them she'll be able to hear them more clearly, and maybe just after or during the conversation she could have different dialogue options pertaining to that information. It's not easy to include, but the world of possibilities are endless : 3 P.S. I love what you're doing so far! Keep up the good work~

Hi, I would like to suggest that you add weather like rain and stuff, so students bring there umbrellas, but if it’s not raining than students will say, “Why do you have an umbrella? It’s not raining.” Or something. Also if would be cool if the umbrella is a weapon but if you fight Someone with it it can break, and (hah so many ideas) and there can be a thing we’re one of the rivals umbrella breaks when they come through the school entrance (it breaks because of wind) and then they slip and senpai helps them up and they blush?? Idk. Also if you do ad that if it’s really windy even if it’s not rainy if students including Ayano cover their face and are pushing through the wind, (kinda like when they see a dead body but their hands are the other way around and arms are up higher)(and are squinting and not horrified) and then put down there hands and walk normal when out of rain or wind, (btw if the wind is light but it still moves the rain than I feel like students without umbrellas still do that) and if there is lighting when a student is out side then the student gets scared and runs inside unless that student is brave or doesn’t care, like the delinquents, but if it’s inside then they just get scared, unless again, they are brave or don’t care. When I started playing Yandere simulator I didn't watch any videos. I didn't even know where the weapons where or any clubs. I went to Kokona and i accepted the task without knowing what to do, I trained a few days. I went to do Hazu kashibuchi's task (sewing room) And I accepted it. He was at the lockers while I accepted it. I went to get a cola and then hurried back. He was nowhere to be found. I didn't know his routine so I completely walked past the sewing room. Good game.

I was searching for Osana for 3 hours, I didn't know how to run, laugh, crawl, get a weapon, about any of the debug commands, or the fact that clubs other than Cooking, Drama, Occult, and Sports existed. (I'm glad there's an Art and a Science Club though)

Having watched the video, and I while I do like what you've accomplished thus far, I do have one or two simple pieces of advice. Even if you think all the stuff on your checklist is absolutely necessary, it might be for the better if you scrap some parts of that checklist as they might end up giving you more trouble than they're worth and cause you to burn out. At the end of the day, keep in mind that this is just a game you're making. It's okay if you leave out some of the things you want to include. You can always come back to them later once the core game is realized.

YanDev, you've been working on Yandere Simulator for about 5 years (Looking back to your first video on this channel)! All the work you put into it makes the game more loveable and interesting, not to mention the fun of it! It's inspiring to me to see someone so committed to one project. The new players should not rely so much on info Chan but rather on Yandere vision!! It would make the game way more interesting and interactive and it would give the player a sense of accomplishment when they think by themselves how to eliminate others Like so he sees

@@kekaci rather than Yandere vision I think an info menu should be an option whenever the player approaches an object, giving the player hints on how to use them

@@kekaci I'm not saying she should be able to see through walls. I was thinking that Yandere vision could be something like her own thoughts. So if she sees, for example, someone standing by the roof it'd be nice if she thought "That person is sitting dangerously close to the fence.. What if they slipped..?" or something like that..
