The High Court did the right thing. But granting ST status to the Meiteis are still a valid demand and this court edit doesn't negate that fact. This court edit makes the demand of the Meiteis to be included in ST list even more legitimate and its upto the Govt of Manipur to take the right steps to fulfill this demand. Nonetheless, there's already discussions outside of the scope of the judiciary to make this a factual truth.

Population census of 2011 for Manipur was withheld because of humanly impossible population growth in few hill districts. Once, census 2021 is carried out, we will have the latest figure and mind you, lot of people outside the state will be in for a surprise.
