An Ethiopian Monk/ Sage (40 years in prayers and communion with our Creator ) answered me the many “why this and why not that” we often ask about some biblical narratives. His answer was simple. He said, “nothing is about our fleshly impressions, thoughts, logic, perceptions etc! I loved this lecture. Thank you my comment to why no hesitation to binding Isaac is Abraham knew Hashems voice. He was a daily communicant of speaking and listening. He was in a sense testing Hashems. Like a dare oh you want me to put my favorite blessing on Your Altar. This was a highest point of trust for Abraham to be in a powerpoint with the Creator. Do you know that place? Have you ever felt that much tension in your faith ? I wait for morsels of Holiness to drip under the mercy seat.

Saint Paulus taught that Aḅraham reasoned that God would raise Yiṣḥaq (Yitskhaq / Isaac) from the dead when Aḅraham was ascending the MOUNTAIN (or hill) to sacrifice his firstborn son (Heb. 11:18-19). Thus Yiṣḥaq could still have offspring like God said he would previously. He was given a great impression & found out that God doesn't want human sacrifices.

Well, As I was I thought, Isaac is not the only son of abraham. Before isaac, abraham had already sons and daugthers with Hagar and Keturah. To his wife sarah, i would say isaac is the only son that is.

In India and Persia, the old priests would tie a thing around their waists...to bind them in tight. The word cunberband that we wear under tuxedos is from Hindi meaning close your waist. A common term used in Hindi to describe a religious person is "banda" or worshipper or more closely, binded one. I think even bind comes from banda. I know religion comes from religare which means to bind. Thanks Isaac. You have set a huge standard.

Abraham’s faith in God made him know he would have grandchildren by Isaac even though God told him to sacrifice his son. Abraham knew in his heart that God would make a way some how to save Isaac. God can make a way out of no way. Amen

I do not know Hebrew but KJV it is translated as it "And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of" That the command. And then G-d says not to kill Isaac, That seems almost like contradiction.

I heard from a preacher that yes Abraham n Sarah split after this event, said that Sarah cant accept what Abraham did - rried to sacrifice Isaac - (because she loves Isaac so much, and she can’t understand God’s purpose) And Sarah didnt live to her fullest age, God shorten her life (the bible said that Sarah died, different from how the bible said about others that reach certain age then died)

Legislation was enacted prohibiting any repetition of this, for, had he approached Pinchos, or had Pinchos approached him, he would have released him from his vow.24 But they refused to humble themselves,25 and were, thus, both responsible for her ruin. They were punished. The Divine Presence departed from Pinchos, as it is said in Divrei Hayamim,26 "Adonoy was with him previously." We learn that he was not with him later. And Yiftoch was afflicted with ulcerations and the loss of his limbs, as it is said,27 "He was buried in the cities of Gilod."28 Another interpretation: "She became the subject of a law in Yisroel" relates to the following passage.

On youtube, Israeli scholars of the Dead Sea Scrolls said there are writings on why God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. An additional reason as per these writings is that God chose to show the heavens that the humans He created and the people of which God would place His allegiance were capable of highest loyalty, the highest faith, the highest trust that would be the honor of those in heaven and would glorify God with His human creation.

Human sacrifice = not God's way of thinking. But at that time sacrificing a bull was fine. Not only fine, but necessary? It seems arbitrary the way human life should be valued when animal life, which we now know to be so similar in emotional range to human existence, is devalued.

I think the requested sacrifice of Isaac from God has to do with Abimelech, the Philistines and Beer-Sheba. Abimelech bested Abraham in Genesis 21, and God seemed absent during that. In Genesis 26, the Philistines invoke HaShem by name when they bless Isaac. In the chapter afterwards, Isaac is then allowed or inspired to bless his favored son. Almost as if a part of HaShem is with the Philistines and had to give authority to bless to the patriarchs.

Actually, Avram\Avraham's work throughout the region was famously spreading Monotheism. From early on, he brought close the men and Sarai\Sarah brought the women under the canopy of the One God. Avraham's business card read; "Do NOT perform human sacrifice!" It was obviously known to him from the very beginning this is NOT what God desires! There Paganistic that is more disdainful than human sacrifice. The thought that Avraraham ever believed it was anything but detestable is unthinkable! The test of Avraham was this: to see if the philosophy he was spreading for all those years was his own or was it God's? If Avraham would sacrifice his son he'd be going against everything he stood for, he would be seen as the world's biggest hypocrite and his life's work we be for naught. If Avraham would follow God's command, it would demonstrate his ultimate conviction to God's word because he would do the act he urged others not to do, BECAUSE GOD TOLD him to do so! This would clearly demonstrate that Avraham was not espousing his own philosophy but God's. This test would show without a doubt if Avraham was selling his own religion or God's. By going against the ethics he espoused and was known for; he showed his only desire was to fulfill the will of God...no matter what it was.

God tells Abraham to circumcise. This is an uncovering of our lower sensual side that is selfthought rather than connected thought with God. Abraham is in the doorway of his tent looking out. He stands looking outwatdly when he is inside himself with God. He becomes a messanger to his herd who listen and accept Gods teaching. He washes their feet, so he humbly worships and cleanses his people who become a foundation for Gods thought on Earth elevating thier awareness. The opposite is shown in Sodom where self thought takes place building a city out of falsity. God tells Abraham to take his son to a mountain (love symbolism) and asks him to give back what has been given to him. To return all his hard work to God. God is reinforcing the fact that we are from God and everything we have is Gods. We own nothing, not even our thoughts. In love, God creates us and everything around us. We think we can own whats around us but in reality we borrow Gods energy. Owning bits of God is theft and is a very arrogant thought. So Sodoms building bricks of false thought were cleansed by truth but Abraham would give lovingly to God as God gave to him. God is als reminding Abraham that he is not God and cannot do what God does but he says I give to myself ie us, you do the same. He can only try to help and God is thankful and says stop. I will not take the love I gave you and you adhors, away. Its like a child trying to repair his fathers car. The effort is seen as endearing love but only the father has the knowledge and strength to repair the car.

Everyone mistreats Isaac: Abraham, God, Rebekah, the Philistines, and Jacob. Even the text of the Torah itself mistreats Isaac by not giving him that much page time (Isaac has two chapters about him compared to Abraham/Jacob/Joseph having 10 chapters be about them).

Question. How could the rest of the world be held accountable for sacrificing people only after the binding of Issac? Even if Hashem was teaching us a lesson there is no way say Chine knew that it was bad. Issac could not have passed the lesson to all 4 corners of the world... Something is not making sense.

Holy men see God from different angels or perspectives. No man can understand Gods completeness so is given a glimpse or rather a symbolic generalization that can be understood by the beholder. What one sees will be enterpreted differently by another due to intellect and experience which is used to interpret messages and remember them. Direct inspiration has to be decoded into words.
