Appreciate the comment! Good to know the videos have helped in some way. I'm taking a break from the game currently as I was grinding the ranked ladder pretty hard, got me feeling a little burnt out. But will be back to posting on it before long :)

@@manix429 This game is very close to my heart. I actually own an original Axis and Allies board game from 1984. My father and Uncles (of which there are 5) would play this game all hours of the night while growing up and they passed the board on to me almost a decade ago. Finding this game in steam was a dream come true but I really had trouble transitioning to the changes in the 1942 version and, to be honest, unlearning all the house rules we’ve built over the years. I was quite frustrated and ready to quit because I have a great understanding of the game but I couldn’t win, the computers AI is a joke, way to easy, and people in ranked were above my skill level. Your videos helped give me a fighting chance in ranked play, which I then leveraged into my own strategies that could get me wins. I’ve never commented on a KZbin video before but in a certain way, you just gave me an amazing Christmas gift, a way to connect with a passion of mine on a level I never thought possible. Happy holidays to you, whatever that may be, and go forth knowing your video with 1.8k views has had a truly wonderful impact on someone’s life. PS - would you like to be friends in Axis and Allies and perhaps play a friendly game? I am not sure how to private message on KZbin.

If Japan build an Factory on Asia mainland (like they have here), they really makes your decision for you. You go all in on stealing that factory and then the Axis is fucked. If Germany builds a Factory in Egypt, again, your first decision has been made for you. If no one build a factory, then Italy is the most vulnerable target for acquisition. What America desperately needs is a way to get ground forces into the fight in a timely fashion, so any factory you can steal is well worth it.

May you explain why wouldn't you strike direct at Iwo Jima with this Japanese board setup after round 1? The island is not really defended, you could have 2 infantry (mainland plus midway) supported by a battleship bombardment and 2x fighters, should be a takover possibly without losing even 1 troop on that? And Iwo Jima is an island from which in several turns you could have a bomber force destroying Japan industry or support any naval or landing battle many zones around? It seems to me that the combined fleet at Iwo Jima is not susceptible to Japanese attacks cause 1 sub and several aircraft vs the fleet is just not enough to justify such a counterattack. If (when) the Japanese fleet returns to its waters you still can easily retreat to coastal US in order to join your new warships, while having Iwo Jima as a point that Japan will dislike so much that it might push its fleet into that zone, in order to dislodge the bomber landing zone which then gives your own fleet the advantage of offensive bomber use from mainland US (landing Midway or Hawaii). If Japan doesn't react it is again in big trouble, Anyway its a win/win position.

I personally would like to see you further your US strategy in the Pacific. I usually play the US almost exclusively as either a Normandy invasion force or a North African support force for the UK, even shipping the western transport and 1 additional destroyer over to the Eastern seaboard via the Panama canal, and keep the remainder of the Pacific fleet as a Japanese deterrent moving from the western US up to Alaska as need be so the Japanese don't get cheeky. I wouldn't mind seeing you develop your moves to Borneo and the East Indies a bit more so I can see how you counter a potential Japanese fleet build up.

do you play any ranked games and if so, do players do they same to you like they do to me? they will wait 24 hours to make one move

Haha, yes I play ranked and those slow moving players are a common thing. Its not fun I agree! But I think its a mix of deliberate slow play (small percentage) and people genuinely busy. But hey, as long you can grab the win at the end thats the main thing.

I. myself love the move towards Japan, but I have had the USSR team before and seen the USA headed towards Japan and I'm like nooooooooo lol
