Surf is up at the popular surfing Manly Beach in Sydney Australia. Come along for a walk down the Corso to Manly Beach, one of Sydney's most beautiful places to hang out.

I lived there for a few years as a kid back in the early 80's. I still hold resentment for my parents for returning to the UK. I miss that place every day of my life!

Thank you Tom for such a beautiful film about Manly and Sydney. I was born and raised in Manly. My late mother was Mayor of Manly. You really captured the beauty and the essential feeling that is Manly: "Seven Miles From Sydney and a Thousand Miles From Care!" I will post your fine film on our Face Book Lost Manly Page.

Thanks for a great video tour. When I lived in Sydney I used take the Manly ferry whenever there was stormy weather. The old ferries were much larger than the one shown here like the old South Steyne, a gorgeous ship she was. It was thrilling to hold on as the ferry pitched up and down as it passed by the heads where it was exposed to the heaviest seas from the open ocean just before berthing in Manly. Sometimes the screws would spin free as it rose out of the water and the prow headed into the troughs. It was exhilarating! That was over 40 years ago. I hope to be able to return to ride the ferry through another storm one day. BTW have you thought of putting some kind of baffle over your microphone to eliminate wind noise - even a piece of tissue would do the trick. Anyway I enjoy your videos.

You always said Cappuccino..hahah. I like it too there are heaps of very good coffee shops in Australia (not chain shop 'Starbucks' or 'Gloria Jeans') but I don't know which one is good in Manly

i beg to differ with you too. the two cities do not compare. nothing else compares to the Sydney harbour. i also love san fran. but the golden gate bridge has nothing on the Sydney opera house. both my wife and i disagree with your choice of beautiful cities by the bay or harbour. we lived in mosman and cremorne point about 5 years. and where from the states

It looks similar with the bay but Sydney is much warmer and more pleasant - besides the animals - but go to San Fran/Oakland and you'll find another form of animal lmaoo

Nice video mate, brings back a lot of memories. I swam between the south head and north head of the harbor for a $100 bet once, I was stranded nearly died doing it and looking at it in your video I must have been mad, had to clamber up the cliffs and walk down past the quarantine and past the hospital half naked........my girlfriend asked me why I was so late when I walked in through the door utterly exhausted and I told her.....I took a short cut...... I lived in Manly and should have stayed there, loved the Australians and their outlook.....ah well ce la vie.4

Doesnt seem like you went to shelly beach which is to the right of manly. It has natural beauty with walks through the nature strip..you can see some wild life an spectacular views. It also has crystal clear turquois water, which is good for snorkling. Or you can ponder which lucky celebrity lives in one the many mansions over looking the ocean. Sydney truly is a magical place

Tom Hall Except the part about Manly being yuppie and Bondi being hippie......its the reverse......otherwise great work. Bondi/Bronte has the honour of being where the surf lifesaving movement first started worldwide......it is also the birthplace of Speedo swimwear. There are some even better beaches further up or down the NSW coast.

Thank you for this video. My mother grew up in Manly and now she is confined to bed in a nursing home. She was able to zone out for a while and visit her old stamping ground by watching all the familiar scenes. She used to catch the ferry to school in Sydney each day, so the ferry shots were much appreciated too. Thank you for such a well put together video, and for giving someone so much pleasure.

I loved the Maly beach, it was thriving with people when I visited it last January. The sun was shining, everybody was one with the sand and water. There was a swimming pool on the way out from there and lined along the pathway up were many beautiful houses with outdoor showers facing the beach. I hope I get to go back there soon!
