Manly Green Waste PT1

During the old Manly council days, the council was divided into four collection Zones Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with Wednesdays being the dedicated day for the Monthly Green Waste service and every 5th Wednesday for on Call Bulky Goods / Clean Ups. The Green Waste Service would collect the Monday Garbage / Recycling Zones one Wednesday then the next Wednesday move over to the Tuesday Garbage / Recycling zone and so on. In my eyes it was an old school system at play from when councils still had the twice weekly Mon/Thurs and Tues/Fri garbage collections and Wednesday’s being dedicated to Greens / Clean Ups so it’s cool that it was still at play until Mid-2019.
On this particular Wednesday morning I made my way out to the suburb of Balgowlah and spotted my favourite Manly council truck and crew swiftly servicing the few piles and 240L oTTo bins presented in Clarence and North Harbour Street. At the time little did I know that in a few years’ time I would be collecting Green Waste, Recycling or Garbage in the street myself throughout the URM NBC Contract. While you see a large 6x4 Iveco Acco / Heil F4000 in the previous contract this street has since been added to the Small Access runs and is now serviced by 4x2 Hino / Garwoods.
Once the new Northern Beaches contract commenced in mid-2019 the old Manly rear loaders where all sold off apart from a UD / Garwood Compact and a Mercedes / Garwood Maxipact which were held onto by council for a Spare vehicle and for illegally dumped and Event waste collections. A majority of the Heil F4000’s made a trip up North to Queensland and were put to work on Clean Up in Brisbane and The Gold Coast contracts.

Wow nice video mate! I loved these manly trucks! Sad there gone now, I think this truck went to Brisbane and still is in Brisbane at the moment!back Great video!

@@BrissyGarbo19 Great to know they are still kicking it but who knows for how much longer with it being harder and harder to get parts for. I don’t suppose you know the fleet numbers of the old Manly trucks that Curbside Services has ? You actually filmed this very truck and posted it up as your 700 Subscriber special about a year ago. I have another few videos of this truck saved up collecting Bottles and Paper to come in future aswell as some of the other old Manly trucks.

​@@Garbo164 As far as I know and am aware of Curbside Services bought a total of 5 trucks off Manly Council; #64101 (XQ-81IM), #642 (XQ-84IM), #643? "163-VTG" #644 (XQ-83IM) and of course your personal favourite #646 (XQ-82IM). Yep I remember posting it, I also posted a couple videos of a tour I had of the yard over at Salisbury which shows the whole fleet parked up for the day, feel free to search them up and check out as well. Sounds good, just what a shame the packer on the one I got was so pathetically slow, was painful to watch and video but at least the Cummins ISC05 motor made up for it a bit somewhat though :/.
