Oh yeah definitely. This game- as funny and cute as it is, it did brought back some rage filled memories. Back in hs some girl from my advisory stole my ID. You have to use your id to get your food (if you tried getting food without it your student account will get charged full priced instead of reduced/free) so I was hangry for almost a week. When she got caught I fuckin lost my shit, I stormed out of the classroom and cried in the bathroom. I was bullied in hs and people in your advisory are treated as your brothers/sisters and that broke my trust in them. So I became a loner and ate at lunch by myself so people wouldn’t steal from me. But this game made me feel better about it, I was laughing throughout it.

Actually, I'm not sure the rat poison thing would be illegal since the lunch is the player's property and there is no real way to prove that the player was banking on someone else eating the food. It's also not against any law to poison yourself. Basically, there would be no way to prove that the player was planning on someone else eating the food (aside from the internal monologue, however, last time I checked most juries aren't telepathic), and since murder requires premeditated intent, it can't be murder. It's also unlikely to be manslaughter since the lunch is the player's property and not the thief's, this would make any injuries or death not a result of the player's negligence. Since the thief knows that the food is somebody else's property and isn't theirs to take it's also presumed that they accept any risks that would come from eating the food (which would also include things like allergens, choking, food intolerances, etc).

Putting poison in food is considered food tampering which can result in a felony. Even if the food is yours, since you put poison it is considered intent to harm.

I've read a comment and now I understand why it was 1st degree murder. the mc knew there was someone stealing their food, which means poisoning your own food meant you wanted the thief to die/be sick on PURPOSE. You poisoned the food that can cause harm knowing full well the other person is going to eat it, counts as you actively trying to harm the other person (which is true in that ending)

Man... The MC in this game is a complete wimp! Oooh twice the spice mapu tofu, and a mildly agressive note, whatever will mr scumbag do~? Order some carolina reaper powder, and laxatives. Add at least 10x the amount of reaper compared to regular chili for whatever already spicy food you're making, then add the laxatives once it's cooled and take that to work. Also make a basic sandwich or something to keep at your desk so you have food. If anyone complains, well you just wanted to raise your spice tolerance, it's a new recipe you were trying out! I did look it up (a few times cause this comes up a surprising amount) and it actually makes sense. If you are poisoning food with the intention of it being eaten by others, that's still a poisoning, it doesn't matter if the food was stolen or not, it's about the intention to do bodily harm to another person. It's duty of care for the people who have access to your food. A similar thing would be if somebody had a strong peanut allergy, and you put a peanut butter sandwich in that shared fridge

@@imorgan3687 it was just an example, but if you put a known allergen to someone or toxic material in a shared space, you are responsible for if that causes consequences to someone else. Im not speaking generally, im speaking specifically here. Its the intention to do harm that is the signifying factor if someone has a severe enough allergy to something, people in the surroundings are made well aware and are expected to avoid it. If you were to ignore that and bring in that allergen without properly sealing it, and someone else was hurt or killed, you are responsible because you did this despite knowing that and it is considered as having intent to harm

I worked in a place where my lunch was stolen so often that I had to go out and buy food, which cost a bit. Nobody cared to do anything because it wasn't a concern. It became a concern when someone's food was 'tainted' one day and they cleaned the entire fridge. Found out that the work fridge hasn't been cleaned since I worked there and I've been there for a year or more. There was also a case of someone stealing lunches and the reason why is because they were so homeless and only ate at work and were too ashamed to ask people for food or to share food.

This reminds me of my old roommate in college that ate my food in the main fridge; so one day i got a mini-fridge and flavorless weight gainer. honestly this game was infuriating. i cant stand weak protagonists or characters being dumb to forward a story. why not keep food at their desk from the start? why not just sit in the break room to watch for the thief? if they’re deciding that they want to resign anyways it shouldnt matter if they arent at their desk. why not use the rat poison at home rather than bring it to work? why keep putting effort into the lunches and then leaving it in the fridge when they know its just gonna be stolen? it was just really frustrating to watch.
