By going outside to find cool sticks and throwing rocks at each other, cant get killed by cursed video games if you find a cool super mega death sword outside that your mom wont let you bring home so you instead make little Timmy from down the road cry even though hes always the first one to start throwing rocks and doesnt even follow the "not in the face" rule and then says everyone is bullying him while he was actively trying to blind people

Well, I remember, I remember all. See most just did not. They where replaced by dim witted mimic's from the mirrored dimention with false memories of playing outside, drinking from hoses, calling people random slurs, eating paintchips and pushpops. And thier personalities changed, altered, to be more obedient, more accepting of monopolies and authoritarians, and to be far more bigoted in general. But I remember. I survived. I saw the KGB agents performing thier dark ritual to dull the public in a last final dark bid to safe the USSR and sew division, the sacrifice they made the way the Mimic king ate thier still beating hearts rended from thier throats.

Tbh, I like the Inscryption-type presentation of the game, but I feel like what it has in interaction between the real world and the game, it lacks in both individually. I feel like there could be a bit more subtlety to the codes rather than giving you them straight away, and likewise a bit more of a threat in the game world.

In fairness it is a demo so I'd hope that if it gets fully developed they will improve the puzzle elements and flesh out the story. I think it does have some decent potential, but with taking "so" much inspiration from inscription it's got a lot to live up to 😅

this game suffers from lazy writing, which is a shame since the production value is really good. yeah, all these cursed video game/tape type horror games have similar plots, but what makes them memorable is how information is presented through gameplay (like kinito pet and shipwrecked 64). this game? it just hands the information to you with little build up. the description for the game cartridge at 3:07 reads exactly like chatgpt also.

I doubt the developer might see this, but maybe this will give others something to think about too: I don't think the Mario and Inscryption/Amanda the Adventurer pairing works. Inscryption is a card game, but beyond that, it and Amanda are both puzzle games. They require you to think and search for ways to proceed. Mario on the other hand is a platformer with no puzzle elements - i.e. it's often a matter of brute force and/or muscle memory, not one of intelligence. When you try to pair those two, you're most likely going to find that the puzzles become hard to implement naturally, and this game is no exception. The game ends up handing you its answers because it knows there's no room for you to search for them. I also see things that look like KinitoPET, and I would like to add that Kinito is a parody of Bonzi Buddy, an old desktop pal that was found to be spyware/adware. This is true even down to Kinito using the same text-to-speech voice that Bonzi did! That voice is used here, too, when it doesn't make sense for it to be; Mario never had such things. I'm not saying you needed Charles Martinet-like voice acting, on the contrary I actually think it'd be beneficial if this game was only text-based. Inscryption was too, aside from its ARG elements, so why not this? All in all, this game has potential, but it's a lot of mismatched pieces that don't and shouldn't have to work together. That said, I wish this developer the best of luck in future endeavors.

this concept has a decent amount of potential, but it seems very, VERY underdone. it's riffing on cool moments from it's inspirations without any real ... substance? prime example is benny himself. the game just immediately assumes you're scared of him, without giving much to be scared of. sure, he says things somewhat offputtingly, but all we get is that he's a lonely ai trapped in a game cartridge. why should we be scared of him? moreover, theres no real reason that the game has mystical powers except that the plot needs it to. I dunno This game has potential, and the dev has put a lot of impressive work into it, but as it is now it doesn't captivate me like it wants to.

Only up to 4:23 so I don’t know where it’ll lead, but I think I’d like this better without the KinitoPet voice. The vibe at the start was great, and presenting the game where you’re left to just kinda figure it out yourself would’ve fit. At most maybe an unvoiced text intro for the character. Edit: up to 7:24 and now I kinda see what they were going for, so maybe it’s just personal taste that I’d want a quieter game with more subtle horror, like it presenting story stills about Benny being lonely, slowly revealing that it’s because this game was locked away for unknown reasons
