This was so cool! So the amoretti sweeteners work....but sweetener may normally still need to be added. Perfect! Thank you!

I use the Amoretti craft purees in secondary. I try to stay with the original flavor of the mead, and these do add great flavors to the mead.

Very cool to see this. I've tried Amoretti's Apple Pie flavoring before and it turned out fantastic. I also did the blood orange, but was less than thrilled with it (probably just a taste preference thing). I want to try their blueberry as I've tried actual (frozen) blueberries before and didn't seem to get a lot of blueberry flavor from them.

Nice to hear two opinions. I prefer a less sweet version, my wife, sweeter. You two make a great team! Audio only is a good start but I can see future videos of you two both on camera! Thanks for all you do!

Which is more cost effective for you? For example, making an apple pie mead with the ingredients you have used before or making a traditional mead with the flavoring?
@ManMadeMead
@ManMadeMead 2 жыл бұрын
Probably the flavoring, but I feel like the real ingredients and process are better tasting and more rewarding in the end!

I can speak from personal experience on repeated and aged batches that the elderberry and apple pie are fantastic used in secondary's and the pineapple is phenomenal in a cyser.

Have you ever used the Strawberry flavor? I was thinking of trying it with a strawberry mead I made that doesn't quite have the strawberry flavor I was looking for.

Thanks for posting this video! I appreciate the experiments and comparative videos that you produce. I’ve got a 6 gallon batch going right now using amoretti for the first time. I went with blueberry. It’s a bochet cyser with blueberry flavoring and cognac soaked oak chips…. Trying to figure out a good name. So far, I refer to it as “The Babymaker” or “The Friend Zone Fixer Elixir “ 😂

What honey did you use? I made two batches (mango blossom honey and orange blossom honey), each with Amoretti POG. There was a big difference in flavor and everyone that has tried it has preferred the one made with mango blossom honey. I enjoyed hearing your wife's comments on the flavors. Keep her involved in your videos, even it's off camera.

It would be interesting to compare the Elderberry flavouring against a mead made with actual Elderberries. I have a couple of gallons of real fruit elderberry mead bulk aging at the moment. I may just have to run a taste test experiment when it's ready

I'm glad you did this video, thank you. I do have a question, like Basicems24, I've tried the Amoretti flavorings the artisan apple pie and P.O.G and Natural Honey both are water soluble extracts. I've blended them to the ratio suggested for 1 gal batches, mixed and stirred until incorporated. I then bottled all of them , within 24 hours all three flavoring separated out. What is the best method that you have done to maintain the blend?
@ManMadeMead
@ManMadeMead 2 жыл бұрын
Wait, so you've blended them without them having fermented? Just like honey, water and flavoring?
@richardholder9659
@richardholder9659 2 жыл бұрын
@@ManMadeMead no, no I made a 3 gal traditional and divided it. After fermentation and conditioning I added the flavorings just prior to bottling.

are some of these flavors thicker than others? I was eying some of their compounds. How do you go about mixing these flavors during secondary without adding oxygen?
@ManMadeMead
@ManMadeMead 2 жыл бұрын
Some of them are a little thicker but it’s not a huge difference. I normally just stir lightly to try avoid the oxygen!

So I am a beginning mead maker and have a dragonfruit mead in the works in secondary. I didn't get a hydrometer until recently and when I read it after racking the first time I got an abnormally high reading (1.045 )and realized I added way too much honey, (oops) So my question is, would it be a good idea on my next racking when I get the fruit out to dilute it? It was in primary for 6 weeks and I put a little more than 4 lbs of honey in it, I meant to put 3. I got pounds and quarts confused when recalling the ratios.
@ManMadeMead
@ManMadeMead 2 жыл бұрын
So you can definitely dilute it down, but you can also try to blend it with a different mead if you have one. You might also try adding some lemon juice or some acid blend and then some tannin (like oak) to balance the brew!
