I've noticed there is a number of different MANN filters that will fit inside ProVent 200 oil separator, do you have any information as to what are the differences between them? MANN partnumbers: LC5001x LC5001/1x LC5001/2x LC5002x LC5003/1x LC5005x

Returning what is caught back to the oil pan? These trap far more than oil...they trap the contaminates that also enter as blow-by so your returning water, raw fuel, abrasive particulate matter, etc. BACK into the oil??? Crazy! Good separator, but oil would nee to refined with a centrifuge style system to be able to return it to the crankcase w/out causing accelerated wear.

I guess returning the captured liquid is acceptable in a semi truck engine. They're driven for hours and hours on end, so the oil separator gets nice and hot, preventing the moisture from condensing inside of it. In a daily driven car or truck, I wouldn't return that stuff to the sump. I'm simply going to build myself a small oil catch tank to catch that liquid and I'll empty it every few thousand miles. Recycling slightly used oil is much better than burning it.

Inlet and outlet ports are shown incorrectly on Mann & Hummel's diagrams and provent installation guides. The Ryco diagrams show correct orientation. The gases into a coalescing filter should be from the outside with the filter inlet lower than the outlet and with the relief also correctly at the inlet to enabling venting in the case of a blocked filter or full catch can preventing over-pressurisation of the crankcase ond subsequent front/rear crankshaft seal failure.

Mann and Hummel is correct sir, inlet at the top outlet at the bottom, M&H would know a lot more than Ryco could dream about when it comes to catch cans !

Wondering if there are many reports of raised crankcase pressures on old 'breathy' engines as the filter oils up? My TD5 keeps blowing a rear seal on the rocker cover gasket since I fitted my provent (it really works well to catch the oil).

May I ask, when I do open ventilation. Is the pressure release valve of the outlet port still working or it will result to the permanent close position of the valve?? Or do I just remove the valve? I tried removing it but the gases and oil mist seem to pass thru the cover....

Hi, do you send this system to Brazil?

For diesel... or petrol engines as well?

What's happening with the unburned fuel that is partially in the crankcase gas? It looks like it travels back to oil and decreases it's life.

Can this work good on my Nissan Pathfinder 2007 (YD25 engine). Where the lower hose must be installed?

When you have no choice, you have to pay! Like in emergency, their meds cost $$$ and in pharmacy same meds will be $. I asked the woman from emergency why the price for heparin is 200$ when I can get it for 1$, she said:"this is emergency, you have no other choice!".

IT may work well but the rattle created by the Provent on a 2011 Prado 3 litre diesel drives me nuts. Surely they can make a system that does not add noise between 1000 and 1400 rpm
@westernfilters15 жыл бұрын
sharkcraft we can fix that, send your postal address to enquiries@westernfilters.com.au and we will send you a replacement spring for the relief valve !! Easy fix only is a problem on some of those engines !

Good question I have found this pretty hard to nail an accurate answer and at $90 Australian it would need to be a lot of kilometres that's for a land cruiser etc.

Can I just delete to PCV there is no emission rules at where I live ?
@KingZoneOne5 жыл бұрын
Not completely, because the PCV also regulates crankcase pressure in addition to oil vapor separation. You can buy special kits that allow you to remove the OEM PVC, yet keep the pressure regulating benefits.

The D1 has the drain hose from the prevent going into into the "in" but what did you do with the "out" hose connection? Did you block it completely or place a breather there?
@KingZoneOne6 жыл бұрын
Block it off. Place a snug fitting vacuum cap over it. Gravity is more than enough to get and keep the oil in it, and a breather will only allow the hot oil smell into the engine bay, and possibly the cabin area.

Why don’t the car makers fit these to new vechicles
@westernfilters16 жыл бұрын
I don't think they view preventative maintenance as a necessity, we believe the car will run much more efficiently for a lot longer once a catch can is fitted, the amount of oil the Provent 200 removes is astonishing !

@@westernfilters1 But was happens to the unburnt diesel fuel that is captured by this filter? I assume that this system is not designed to capture only the oil and not the diesel, and thus can not return the diesel back to the inlet
