In this video we got the planters ready, seeded some waterways, and got rolling on planting just a day later.

Welcome back Mann family!! One of my favorite Iowa farm families. What a nice shop. You can never have too big of a shop. Congratulations on the new addition to the family. Here’s hoping you have bumper crops this year! Great video. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed season!!

At 14:00 you mentioned you killed your rye cover crop days ago and are now planting. Since you have a good no-till planter, you should set aside several experiment strips where you leave the rye standing, plant your beans/corn, and then when the beans/corn emerge you roll the rye flat (roller crimper is best but a cultipacker or field rollers going down and back on the same area will flatten any that tried standing up after the first pass). The corn/beans keep growing through the rye mulch that acts like you put plastic sheets down and the weeds are way behind the main crop and don't interfere.

Yeah great idea! I have heard of some people doing that, if that worked out like I think, it would potentially eliminate a 2nd herbicide pass. Which would be awesome

Interestingly, in North missouri there's a lot of corn-bean-bean rotation, just because beans tend to be more profitable here

we planted beans on beans 2yrs ago was the best beans i ever grown doing the same this year because their will be no money growing corn this year with the export being as dismal as it is until south American farmers go broke farming at them prices they are selling their crops for to china.

What is isolation?
@jeremywheelock398826 күн бұрын
Seed corn fields need to be isolated from other seed corn varieties, & regular production corn to keep the seed corn from cross pollinating & ruining the genetics.

That big banner on your shop wall must be embarrassing LOL I don't care for sports after high school, they seam to play for the money not the love of the game like in high school, besides who in there right mind needs MILLIONS of $ to play a dang game, I can understand making a comfortable living but Millions come on. the least they could do is reinvest in their home town, you know make life a little better for those who follow them, but that's my opinion and everyone knows about opinions LOL
