As a first responder, I sometimes feel like I'm an NPC in someone's crazy DnD session: One time, a lady in town got *very* high on meth. She proceeded to strip naked, and run downtown in the middle of one of the worst thunderstorms I had seen in awhile. After chasing her through flooded parking lots and finally catching her, she freaked out further, screaming that her fiance was the prince of Saudi Arabia and she needed to find him in order to deliver the codes that would stop China from launching nukes. She claimed she was naked because they couldn't track her that way. She then tried to get away and jump into oncoming traffic so I couldn't interrogate her and retrieve the codes, as she believed me to be a Chinese spy. Finally got her in an ambulance to go off to the hospital to detox. Don't do drugs kids.

My cousin was an EMT. She got chased around the ambulance by an old woman in a nightgown with a knife. Her partner door checked her to get her to stop after the fourth time they circled the vehicle. He was laughing too hard the first three times.

Great Episode! I Was a member of our local Highway Rescue Squad (Its separate from the Fire Dept. here) for 14 years. We responded to a call of a single vehicle roll over, about 45 minutes away from our station. When we got there, EHS was helping one Drunk in the middle of the road, who was telling them about his Buddy that was with him. EHS said they couldn't find a second person. We broke out the airbags and lifted the Suburban (its was on its roof) enough to make sure the Second person wasn't under it. We then started looking in the woods along the road. We found him about 10 minutes later, on the opposite side of the road, about 300 feet back in the woods. (The Member who first noticed him, Thought the sounds he was making might have been from a bear....) Funny part was, he was curled up in a fetal position, and when the RCMP officer with us, asked him if he could stand up, His response was "I *AM* Standing... AND I can walk a straight line too.... See? Really straight...." (Expletives edited out) All while still in the fetal position..... Had to call for a backboard to carry him out through the woods and past a barbed wire fence. All the while, he was cursing up a storm and insisting that he was walking a straight line...

My favorite first responder KZbin channel is Fire Department Chronicles. From there I have learned important things like: - The rookie is the guy with the mop. - Second shift always steals food. - Codes will always run right when you start a shower, begin a "seated toilet performance", or just put something in the oven. - It is good to be the Engineer-Driver, in part because of the recliner naps. - NEVER say the word "Quiet"! Never!!!
