I like the way you're doing your videos. Everything on point. Some people make so boring videos,like showing the box 10 min. I am building models for fun like you do and i do it in a way i like😁

Thanks so much for the tutorials on putting this kit together! I just started modeling again after a 30 year hiatus and this was very helpful for my first model after all that time. I can't believe people ask you to change the way you pronounce things! He's from England people, they do pronounce things differently sometimes! Sheesh! I really like your channel and am glad I found it. Thanks again!

Modelling cuts across the entire spectrum of people - unfortunately that includes the worst as well as the best of people! Thanks for the kind words, and as for others (often Americans, but not always!) commenting on pronunciation, it's like water off a duck's back....I have the security of coming from the country that invented the language, so I don't feel threatened! 😀

Think nothing of the subscription Sir, it's the least I could do after the great content that you put out. That and the fact I've been looking at a 24th scale Spitfire for years and was afraid to take the leap. I get to appreciate vicariously through your build. Cheers

New subscriber! I'm just getting back into this, although having been highly into 1/87 scale Model Railroading. I think that will have me in a better mindset than when in my early 20's 😂 I LOVE SUPERDETAILING!! I've kept spools of brass wire and boxes of spare parts. My starting point are the 3 aircraft my father flew.... B-47, B-52G, and the Superlative SR-71 Blackbird!!! All in 1/72 scale.

Really well constructed video , and model! I have a question , anybody please...am about to embark on this build..Q. were the original planes from WW2 painted using a spray or with brushes/rollers? Airbrushing gives a superior finish especially on larger scale builds but maybe using a paintbrush is an option with a nod to realism if that is how they were done originally ...
@MannsModelMoments
@MannsModelMoments 2 жыл бұрын
Aircraft were usually sprayed, with things like kill markings painted by hand. British aircraft were often sprayed with the aid of rubber mats as masks, but not always. If you look at period photos, you can see a range of "edges" on British aircraft, and having a slightly soft edge is certainly not unauthentic (depending on scale and how much, of course)

New subscriber here, I’m just behind you on this kit and about to start on the wing. Only problem so far is a slight gap directly in front of the coaming between the fuse halves, my bad I guess. I’m hoping it won’t affect the fit of the armoured screen. That Wowstick Mini looks fantastic, I’ve just ordered one from Amazon. Thanks for that tip. TonyS

So far the fit in front of the cockpit (where the instrument panel sits) is the most problematic area in my build - will let you know if there's anything else!

I'm abit late to the party. Great work, really like your content. I've just started making models again since I was a small boy ( over 30 years ago ). Currently hovering around 1/72 scale WW2 aeroplanes, the 190, 109, Spitfire and Swordfish. Could you recommend a 1/48 that requires little skill? Thanks.
@MannsModelMoments
@MannsModelMoments Жыл бұрын
Any Tamiya 1/48th Bf109 or Fw190 kit gives a good balance between detail and ease of build - the disadvantage being their relatively expensive. Eduard 1/48th Weekend kits are superb in terms of detail and value - something like the P-39 is incredible for just over £15

Just a request for advice, I have both the SPITFIRE and TYPHOON waiting to build. Which would be the less challenging to commence with?
@MannsModelMoments
@MannsModelMoments Жыл бұрын
I can't really speak to the Typhoon, as unfortunately I don't have one, but from what I've seen I think the Spitfire will give you less issues - for one the Merlin is a less complex engine than the Napier Sabre, and I believe the Typhoon undercarriage on the kit is a bit weak for the weight of the plane. I think Airfix have put a lot of feedback from this earlier kit into the Spitfire, as the Undercarriage on that is spectacularly solid.

@@MannsModelMoments Thanks I found that afterwards I’m just getting back into modelling used to do airfix etc in the 70s and military modelling in the mid 80s using historex 54mm figures but used a liquid called plastic weld wasn’t sure if it was still available 👍
@steveknight2540

There is really no need to scrape any paint away from surfaces prior to gluing them with Tamiya Extra Thin and this will simply "eat" through the layers of paint right down to the plastic from experience, this also it true of lacquer paints. The only time you might need to scrape paint away from glued surfaces is if you are using something like superglue (CA glue), as this will not dissolve the paint layers.
@MannsModelMoments
@MannsModelMoments 2 жыл бұрын
From experience I'm not sure I agree. The cement solvents do dissolve the paint, but it doesn't go anywhere, meaning they're now part of that joint. If there's no weight or stress on the part I might risk it, but certainly not for something large, and given the time it takes I'd rather do it and know the bonds are solid than not
