Manny Machado is clearly a common name in baseball and it’s cause he’s extremely talented. Whether it’s hitting, fielding or simply his canon of an arm he’s impressive. But in this video all we care about is his glove and how he forms it for third. Machado uses a PRONP5-7 which for a lot of people that means nothing. But to me that means a lot! The NP pattern is designed for people who close their glove thumb to index. This means there’s only one hinge which goes against what would be considered the most efficient way to break a glove in. Having a second hinge allows for smoother transfers and a longer lasting glove. This is why Machado’s break in style is so interesting. He wears the glove with two fingers in the pinky which allows him to create a second hinge in the glove. Now the NP pattern with two in the pinky creates a shallow third basemen’s glove. I personally am a big fan of this and wish I could keep this glove.

Good sir, you’re absolutely killing it with these videos. Your work is top notch and I can’t wait to watch you keep growing the channel-it’s just a matter of time before your sub count explodes. Interestingly, Longoria is another 3B who goes two in the pinky while keeping the index in the standard position. I find that to be INCREDIBLY painful so it must be something guys with big hands can get away with. Keep releasing these great vids!!

even when wearing an NP5 traditional you dont have to close it thumb to pinky, its just where ever you feel comfortable without the thumb moving (usually the middle finger)

For both companies snakeskin is just cosmetic, if they say it makes the glove better or lighter that’s sorta bull crap. And 44s mesh is gonna be lighter but just like other brands it isn’t a huge difference in weight
