Transparent, translucent, and opaque are terms used to describe the ability of an object to transmit light.
Transparent objects allow light to pass through them with little or no scattering, so that objects behind them can be seen clearly. Examples of transparent materials include glass, clear plastic, and air.
Translucent objects allow some light to pass through them, but the light is scattered in many different directions. This causes the object to appear blurry or hazy. Examples of translucent materials include frosted glass, wax paper, and some plastics.
Opaque objects do not allow any light to pass through them, so objects behind them cannot be seen. Examples of opaque materials include wood, metal, and some types of stone.
