commenters said bruce could be heard in the back. no sound engineers but i guess cathedrals had good acoustics. until fairly recently if you did theatre it was expected even a stage whisper could be heard from an actor. i have only seen 1 play as a kid and could not heaqrd the other actors but in the balcony could hear john carradine fine.

Although this is awesome and it warms my heart to see Mr. Ian Anderson be the benefactor of so many kind comments by Iron Maiden fans, of which I am a fan of both JT and Maiden. The one thing both have in common is both are uniquely British and both have masterful songwriting. However, imagine if you will Mr. Bruce Dickinson sharing the stage with the Ian Anderson of yore (1973-1982) when Ian still had a voice?

This isn't exactly "Revelations", it's the hymn "Oh God of Earth and Altar" with words by G.K. Chesterton and arrangement by Ralph Vaughan Williams in 1906 to the traditional English folk melody "King's Lynn". Part of this hymn was included in the Iron Maiden song "Revelations" however.

From all that terror teaches, From lies of tongue and pen, From all the easy speeches That comfort cruel men, For sale and profanation Of honour and the sword, From sleep and from damnation, Deliver us, good lord. Tie in a living tether The prince and priest and thrall, Bind all our lives together, Smite us and save us all; In ire and exultation Aflame with faith, and free, Lift up a living nation, A single sword to thee. The greatest voices of heavy metal Ronnie James Dio, King Diamond, Rob Halford & Bruce Dickinson. The only one I haven't gotten to see live is King D & I'm looking forward to that opportunity. Those voices just blow me away. How can you not love a man who can strafe you from the sky (trained pilot), skeure you like a shiskabob (Olympic level fencer) and can crush you with the weight of his voice (don't think I need to splain that one Lucy). How can you not love that?

What happened to: “She came to me with the serpents kiss as the eye of the sun rose on her lips...” My favorite lyric of that song. 😆

@@Cutesy_Time_is_Over So he forgot and just improvised the rest? He did not forget. This isn't "Revelations" by Iron Maiden, this is the hymn "Oh god of earth and altar". Maiden borrowed the first verse from this hymn to their song "Revelations" though.

I always thought the original Chesterton version of A Hymn was as Metal or even MORE Metal than the version Bruce sang on the Piece of Mind Album. But I always wanted to hear Bruce sing the original. Now I have heard it! Wow! Awesome!!!!!
