TOWER OF BABEL III: THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL
@Shadethewolfy4 жыл бұрын
I think the "Tower of Babel" they're referring to is the AI Mother Brain, which was ostensibly built to run and manage the day to day business of the Kingdom of Guardia in the future. Infrastructure, communications, stuff like that - actually, reading the wiki this seems to be exactly the case; Mother Brain was built to manage their factories and the more menial functions of other Domes, being connected into a network of them. Specifically, she was built to manage several factories built to produce the R-Y line of robots which, due to their more humanoid appearance, were possibly originally meant to be companion robots - Robo's friendliness upon reactivation somewhat confirms this; it's likely that Lucca simply overwrote the reprogramming that Mother Brain gave him after the downfall of humanity. Babel of course being the future world of 1999 AD, which fell when Lavos emerged and brought death from on high like some vengeful god. Tower of Babel II: Electric Boogaloo was Mother Brain Tower of Babel I: Zealean Dreams was, of course, the Mammon Machine.

The "Humans will be slain" bit really fits well considering that you visit the Geno Dome later on in the game to face Mother Brain.

Alright all joking aside, I've got something to say. Some of the songs in the Chrono trigger ost I listen to and think, 'man, they can't make a song for the musical out of this without it sounding awkward..' and then you actually make the song and it sounds amazing. This is one of those songs.

This is chilling. The mechanical voices of the chorus are like nothing I've heard before. Robots really do dominate... this song! Steel is fantastic as usual, and the levels are really well handled. The balance achieved between Steel and the chorus so that we can hear both is lovely. Well executed song! Can't wait for next week!
@GalvyTheTom Жыл бұрын
5 years on and your insight is still incredibly accurate. Robo’s vocals are varied, have little quirks to convey his emotion, have slight changes in tone - the machine chorus has none of that, being completely unchanging in tone or emotion throughout, with the synchronized vocals of the song further emphasizing that.
@ChatonKatreal6 жыл бұрын
You have the strangest feeling like you're being watched. (good idea tho, with the art and the contrast difference. A+ security footage.) I really enjoyed this song. The chorus is getting a lot of work out on these last couple, and I'm loving it! It's kinda funny to see the downfall of humanity. Like in Secret of the Forest, the fiends had to hide away and skulk, which is a huge contrast to the robots here, who are the ones on top of the metaphorical food chain right now. There are quite a few lines in this song I like, the beginning is very strong with the tower of babel allusion, although I feel like it's referring to the kingdom of zeal [which we have yet to have a song from hmmmm] than the poor wretches hiding out in the domes. I like robo's alternate lines here, showing he's out of step with the rest of his kind through Lucca's intervention (nice call back to crono's "anyone can be all they can be" motif from Chrono Trigger). I was looking forward to more of Steel's robo, and despite the relatively small size of the part, I wasn't disappointed. That Mother Brain plug there. Ohoho. That doesn't sound ominous or anything. Nope. Not at all.
@willowpoulton166 жыл бұрын
Definitely not ominous whatsoever. Not even in the slightest.

I enjoyed the song, too. The only problem is Mother Brain isn't even initially mentioned at this point in Chrono Trigger, and given that she's an optional side quest, that seems to be a rather big spoiler (even if it is relatively easy to infer). I get that since this theme is also played in her lair, the song can serve as themes for both locations, but so far the lyrics had been careful to only hint at future developments.
@ChatonKatreal6 жыл бұрын
Nangbaby I don't really consider it a spoiler. It's just foreshadowing. People who don't know what she is is just gonna hear it and shrug it off as either a reference they don't get or something that will explain themselves in time. Which will make them go "!!! So that's what that meant" when she actually shows up. As for optional, I think it's pretty obvious they are going to write in the side quests into the main storyline here, so it would make sense to hint at the involvement early on so it isn't as abrupt when it does arrive, like Lara's sadness in peaceful days, or MB here.

Okay but this is going to be the underrated bop of the series, I can feel it. Juno's art captures the feel perfectly, and I love the footage transition. The chorus harmonies have me groovin' with them (I can hear Queen jamming out)

Chrono trigger usually does a pretty good job of you only stay in one time. for a Short bin of time before moving on to the next but the first time you go to the future you're there for a while as you go through some ruins then underneath one of the domes Then through some more ruins and then through two factories and you can even go through the sewers if you're so inclined although there's little point to doing it yet

Another amazing song to add to the list. Simply amazing, I enjoy how it's kinda a robotic chorus singing it makes the factory so ominous as you go through it feels so amazing. Plus the great artwork by juno going from a regular art piece to set the scene turning into a still security camera footage just a nice transition. Steel's singing is amazing as well he is a great fit for Robo I am excited for the rest of the musical. Also nice foreshadowing with the Mother Brain line I wonder....if that will become it's own song or something.....(hintity hint hint) anyways like I said another great song by MOTI and his crew of amazing friends and actors.

For once, I have heard Alex in the chorus and was correct. Wonderful guys, I really loved how mechanical it was. Like, it reminded me of back in like, early 2000's, maybe late 1990's. You know, old techno. Really love this song. And the art was on point too. E: Also, listening to this again, I really enjoy how I can easily pick out the voices. Like, without the credits and seeing who was in the chorus, I could easily pick it out. The most noticed to me, as pointed out earlier, Alex and now mentioning Atwas. I really loved this. Okay, I am done. Have a good day or night.

Man, this was one of those levels that gave me a headache - not beacuse it was bad or anything, I just got lost as hell there ._. The robotic voices being the main chorus was a VERY good idea - I give my quarter for "inventor", if thats what you call it! Plus I was often thinking about the back-intention of them since I've done Robo's quest, and this lovely piece helped me answer this as well! There's nothing bad I can say about this track, just like the others! Keep it up ^^

So here has been my day. I forgot which day of the week it was (again) and thought it was Saturday. Spent the day reading fanfiction (I have no life) and trying to create an alternate universe version of the Disney corporation ( I REALLY have no life). Randomly listen to a piece by Chopin because I decided I wanted to indulge in a bit of wish fulfillment and have regular animated musical showcases ala Fantasia to have been a thing in this AU. So I was looking for classical music pieces to include. KZbin helpfully has this video in the top of the suggestion bar when I click on the video for said piece by Chopin. I immediately click on the video because SCREW WORLD BUILDING!!! CHRONO TRIGGER THE MUSICAL HAS A NEW SONG!!! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Although now I am wondering if you are going to maybe include the Unreleased Battle Theme from the OST in this....which, in turn, lead to me wondering if Singing Mountain would be included. Not going to lie, I would probably utter a gleeful squeal so high pitched and loud that it would shatter glass if the latter happened. And then pass out from a combination of lack of oxygen and excessive euphoria. ....I have my favorite songs and not all of them made it into the game.... This is not me asking for it to be included. I have no subtlety and would have included a two syllable, hyphenated 'please' after a long chain of even more 'please' in increasing caps lock and boldness if I were asking. This is just plain old wishful thinking on my part. As in 'Man, it would be cool if they did that.' Again. No subtlety. Or shame. Now to go listen to Frog's Theme again. It gets stuck in my head periodically.

...Ok I gotta say it: I wish we could get more focus on the fight in these places, it feels wrong that we see you try to escape every battle. I get that you need to look over the area and show off the location but I just feel the monsters and fights is part of the location. Now either you keep the song playing as it goes along or you switch to the battle theme which would cause issues to the flow. I just wouldn't mind a bit of focus on the battles like chat amount enemies or characters making observations.
