Hello from Montreal. I loved this video. Mix of very interesting topics. Thanks a lot for short views of your neighborhood chateaux. Could you sometimes make them a longer, like a whole video each? With some historical facts behind it. And loved the small details of bed covering (I think it called "baldachin"). I like to saw too. 😊

In actual fact, the French monarchy was only abolished in 1792 , years after the taking of La Bastille.

It looked to me, like that bedcrown, with the 2 different fabrics, had had a rather crude emergency "repair" done, as the moore expensive fabric perhaps deteriorated faster, for some reason. Otherwise, I am sure they would have done it alot more decoratively.

Which is the name of the castle at the end with the fireworks ???
@sdole94485 ай бұрын
Would love to know the familial or other types of relationships between your "modern" chateau and the one with the fireworks - was yours built by a young, hip, modern off branch of the larger chateau, or were there any family ties, or business/agricultural ties? One could easily think France was AWASH in chateaux from watching our favorite channels, but why are they so thickly or thinly dotted around the landscape in any given area and what were their practical relationships? Ruminations....

One also wonders if the current homes of modern oligarchs will host tours and still be around 500+ years later...
@happygrandma56375 ай бұрын
Cheateau du Puymartin appears to have Noman towers. However, 600 years and 568 km away from Normandy I'm guessing that's a no. Both look grand. Thank you for the visits. A lovely day. Rather ironic that they are shooting off fireworks in celebration of Bastille Day at a chateau that was a home of aristo's.

How does being conservative equate to being pro-monarch?
@crystalb.57255 ай бұрын
I haven’t watched yet and don’t know the context but their parties aren’t the same as American party system. Their “conservative” party isn’t the same definition as American conservatism, etc. I’m guessing that’s what you are talking about. I may come back and edit after watching 😝 Edit to add- yep, party definitions differ from different countries and different time periods. She was talking about a very long time ago and their Conservative Party today is probably not even the same as the Conservative Party during the time she is discussing.
