So they all pack into the older well established hospitals. This might have been true 20 years ago when the best resources were allocated to be bigger hospitals. But there's been quite an overhaul of secondary and primary hospitals in china. They have modernized, expanded, and built even new ones. This is especially true in newer districts and second tier cities. More and more people feel more comfortable going to these newer hospitals, and they know the medical service will be on par with the provincial level ones. It's quite an amazing thing to see. For instance the new areas around Hangzhou have Hughes hospitals. I visited a place called Daiwang in guangdong 10 years ago they had this relatively small district hospital. It was by no means small, maybe like our average Walmart but a few stories tall. Now it's huge comparable to an entire shopping mall. What I see is that the government have a clear development plan for their cities and their residents. Places like Daiwang was just a small factory town just 10 years ago. Now they have HSR, shopping malls, and newer residential areas. The factories are there but they are huge mega factories and you can see all the jobs it have created. The government see the influx of workers and have built to infrastructure to support the people coming in. Quite amazing to see.
